ITT: Albums you absolutely love that you've never seen mentioned on /mu/
maybe not that often since Climaxia and some others left
My favorite album. Only ever seen it mentioned when I post it
Have you just never posted in a post-punk thread?
80% of my library.

jeffrey lewis fucking sucks, so it's weird that /mu/ doesn't like him more
Why not /mu/?
>>53595105
>jeffrey lewis fucking sucks
y-you too
Flotation Toy Warning - Bluffer's Guide to The Flight Deck
Chamber Pop
>>53595158
Is it any good? I've been meaning to listen to it after coming across it on rym
Not sure if I'm blind, but I've never seen the frogs mentioned.
>>53595197
Yea
This album is like lying on a cloud. Its beautiful.
Wish they made more music after this
>>53595004
damn that album kicks ass, almost forgot it. had to go listen to it right away
>>53595095
I've been in a couple and it might've passed me by, but it's too gold to just be restricted to post-punk threads.
I don't care if it's kind of a bowie rip-off, it's one of the best damn things i've ever heard. same with the rest of their albums
The Necks probably got more well-known since they toured with Swans. Still, if you haven't listened to them and you like minimalism, jazz and/or ambient, you should give them a try.
>>53595120
It is mentioned from time to time, but people usually dislike it. Last time it was along the lines of "people on RYM love it, that shows how much RYM sucks".
>>53595004
that album kicks ass, had to go listen to it right away
don't throw ashtrays at me!
>>53595337
To be fair, I once made a post-punk general with that as the pic and got no replies.
WHYS OUR LITTLE ONE TAKING SO LONG IN THE SHOWER TONIIIGGGHHHTT
>>53595120
guess you haven't been here very long then
>>53595375
>don't throw ashtrays at me!
I wish the whole album was like this one.
I wish any album was like that track.
Don't think I've seen this posted once
>>53595396
Damn. Honestly, I feel like if this entire board somehow listened to this album, it'd be /mu/core.
>>53595375
>>53595418
Best: Midget Submarine
Runner-Up: Don't Throw Ashtrays At Me!
I've only ever gotten mixed reactions when it comes to Yuck. I know they sorta sounded lost after Daniel left the band and that Glow And Behold left tons to be desired, but their latest release from last year rules pretty hard. Never saw it mentioned on /mu/. It's an EP, though.
>>53595804
I loved Southern Skies, first song reminds me a lot of Lush
I hope they release something again soon, does suck that Daniel left tho
>>53595485
fucking love this album
>>53595120
I have never seen anyone but me post this album
>>53595854
>first song reminds me a lot of Lush
Victor, is that you?
Songs For Drella, arguably Lou Reed and John Cale's magnum opus
>>53596014
>arguably Lou Reed and John Cale's magnum opus
it wouldn't even be in the discussion.
>>53596065
I see this on /mu/ a lot man idk what you're talking bout
>>53596067

>>53596014

talked about a bit when it was released, but not nearly enough.
>>53596161
looks like frusciante
This album/band would totally be a /mu/ hit if people listened to it.
They love that post-rock
The general feel is like the Looney Tunes tried to be a Melvins and Slayer cover band, Great stuff.
>>53596161
Love that album.
Love Dope Body.
They're wonderful live.
don't know what the consensus is on this album, but it's fucking great imo
>>53596065
mmmmmmmm so good
anybody else hear Alasdair's guitar work in Mac DeMarco's playing? They both play a really interesting melody/rhythm hybrid with a ton of fills
My favourite album of all time.
>>53596199
yeah, i could see that. haven't had the opportunity to :(
Jozef Van Wissem & Jim Jarmusch - The Mystery of Heaven

>>53595004
my negro, i absolutely love swell maps
but they get some mentions on /mu/ once every while
One of the greatest vocalists in the history of indie rock. High-tier jangle/powerpop, fun catchy stuff - but when Jeff Lescher really howls, it's almost spiritual for me. I saw this album posted once in a share thread, copped it, and have never seen a word spoken about them since.
>>53596453
well! hopefully they'll go to wherever ya live soon.
I live in Baltimore, so I have the chance to see them super frequently.
also yr link is broken. should be this:

>>53596687
good album
criminally underrated/unheard
any boards of canada fan should check this album out
I've only seen Type O posted a handful of times throughout the years.
pretty much the whole prodigy discography
but most of all this. i can understand why /mu/ doesnt really talk about it though, none of you seem really rave-y.
Although Swell Maps are quite highly regarded in Post-punk threads, I am LOVING this thread.
Awesome recs guys, and most are legitimately under-discussed!
along with every other Double Dagger album

Mink Lungs - I'll Take It
why does no one talk about this?
I love it.
Anything by Hot Chip.
Incubus in general. I know it's extra pleb, but for such a popular band, it's suprising they aren't mentioned much.
>>53597903
>>53597774

>>53597927

Have you listened to their album with Angels of Light? That's a great album
>>53595004
It's quite big in Ireland, but I've never seen the album mentioned on here.
I can't be the only one who loves this album. I feel like if people really looked closer at it, they would really enjoy it. People always go on about Confusion is Sex, Sister, or DDN, but no one really talks about this, which I would argue is as good as any of them.
>>53599669
Yeah, I love it. I'm genuinely surprised they don't get much love around here, especially since they were hand-picked by Gira (who is quite literally worshipped on this board). I'll admit New Weird America was a huge turning point in my musical education, took me from Eric Clapton to whatever /mu/core was fawned over in those days... but I still come back to this album for inspiration.
I've mentioned this in 'unpopular opinions' threads because I know its a very idiosyncratic opinion to have... but I thoroughly believe that Ryan Vanderhoof leaving Akron/Family in 2007 to become a fucking monk (or whatever) was one of the greatest losses in indie music in the last 10 years. I haven't heard a voice sound as desperate on record as his.

Came here to post this. Though I've have seen it here a few times, I still think it deserves more attention.

Bedhead are great, they've been discussed a few times in slowcore threads but definitely not enough
>>53600822
>speaking as a collective for mu
just because mu doesnt speak about them doesnt mean that they dont enjoy prodigy you spastic
>>53595055
Not as good as Purim's Shadows or Mary's Voice. Freeing Song for Reindeer is fantastic though.
