Seriously, I've heard this two to three dozen times, mostly while studying or ambient sleep music, and I've never been able to enjoy it more than my old amp feedback recordings I recorded to edit up and fuck with the sound. It's almost practically the same shit, can anyone help me into this? Or is it always just 'senseless amp and distorted notes' with nothing more to hear out?

I'm not dissing the genre, Boris's Feedback is one of my favorite albums in noise general, and favorite Boris album, as well as Electric Wizard being one of my favorite bands just throughout all genres.
I like Doom and Drone, but I can't get into Earth and understand the praise it gets. It'd be a cool underground ambient metal group in bandcamp, but a defining act that people whiten their pants over? I can't get that.

Earth 2 gets a lot of praise because it's very influential in the drone doom genre and was really the first album of it's kind. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best. Personally I prefer Sunn O)))'s OO Void to it, but that doesn't negate the influence that Earth 2 had on groups like Sunn O))) and Boris

Electric Wizard is pretty great. I have Acid Bath cued up after I finish this album. Though I thought Neurosis and Acid Bath were closer to sludge? The genres are pretty similar though, I've just never seen those bands described as doom.
