Eh, I like that it's more diverse but it seems like it just sort of jumps around without any direction after Repetition. I feel like they could have organized the tracklist differently and avoided this because I really like most of the songs but feel like I'm sort of being dragged around to eight different spots without any clear path between them.

Shrines wasn't really that "dark", I mean it had Fineshrine and Ungirthed on it which were bouncy as hell. I would argue that Dust Hymn and Flood on the Floor are darker than anything on Shrines outside of maybe Saltkin and Catographist

I don't even know why people compare the two, they're not that much alike apart from the fact that they're Synthpop bands with a female singer. CHVRCHES have none of the hip-hop influences that Purity Ring have and Lauren lyrics are written completely differently than Megan's.
