Music has the power to control shit dude. Fashion mainly but also the way people think and act.

I mean look at what Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa and A$AP Rocky did to a whole generation. For the worse in my opinion, but yeah you get the point.
>>
>>53272257

>theres not much there outside of a handful of artists

That's true for every genre, even dadrock
It's just easier to avoid bad dadrock because it's not on the radio anymore like all the bad memeraps

This album got me into the idea of an album as a whole project and not just as a collection of different songs. It really opened up my mind when I was like 14. I'm not sure if I like it as much now as I did back then, but it's still a great album.

This album made me realise you don't need guitars and distortion for a great album. I can't put in words how different this was for me, how amazed I was when the album first finished.
This album opened up a whole new area of music for me, and truly broadened my taste. This applies to radiohead as a whole really, and while I haven't listened to them for a year or so now, they will always be special to me
>>
>>53272315
This is the album that got me into post-rock, even if I don't listen to the genre as much as I used to. GYBE was huge when I started browsing /mu/ a few years ago and that's how I discovered them. They still are posted often, but back then there was so much more discussion about them. Anyway, great album and I hope they put some new stuff out including Behemoth.

I had heard 'For Respect', 'Don Caballero 2' and 'What Burns never returns' before this One, And I loved those Albums

But this Album...
This Album was the soundtrack to some of the confusing times in my life.

the Track 'I never liked you' fills me with that child-like excitement that you come across very rarely in adult life.

My godfather was a huge fan of The Bends and OK Computer, and hated Kid A when it first came out.
I sat in a room with him, and we listened to Kid A all the way through, and at the end he was crying, he couldn't believe what he had missed.
Turns out he just stopped the CD as soon as he heard synths. He then followed the hate train and didn't try again, until 12 years later when I played it to him

This album and Junior by Royksopp; those were the first serious albums I've ever listened (Before that I only listened to the nº 1 shit in the radios), thanks to this albums I later discovered more great music.

Then I discovered The Butcher/Supercollider by Radiohead and my mind blew up.

Became my favourite band from that opening riff. And getting into the rest of their discography and listening to the bands they listed as influences got me into shoegaze, ambient, drone, trip-hop, noise, decent pop rock, instead of just metal, classical and dad-rock. So maybe not literally changed my LIFE, but had a huge impact on my music tastes.

music has an effect on your emotions, which in turn influence your thoughts and actions. duh. so yeah having ones perception/outlook in that field changed can make a more or less noticeable difference.

these guys probably had the biggest impact on me overall. listened to nothing else in grade 10, at some point i thought it was me going back in time to help write those lyrics, so my then-present-self had some kind of guidance. yeah i was kinda retarded and still am.

When I listened the it really annoyed me at first, but I got back at it and feel in love, its my favorite album now.
Also after falling in love with this album, I went to a "indie" music festival which was the best experience of my life and my best memory.
I'd also consider myself an opener and more understandable person now.

I remember I read this tinymixtapes review where they explained that an album that "changes your life" shouldn't be an album that you love, but an album that actually made you think about things differently.

I actually thought this album was a huge letdown, but the previously released tracks have completely changed my listening habits and to a certain degree my personality. Most of the music i had listened to before was very dour and dark; it was like i used music as an emotional crutch. Then I heard Attracting Flies, and I realized "Hey, music should be fun! it should be fun, sexy, innovative, melodic, etc." And so I got more into rnb, hiphop, pop, electronic stuff, etc. I'd say it's made me a brighter person
