Are The Cranberries shoegaze?
>>
What shoegaze albums have more emphasis on drones? I know that The Goslings and Have a Nice Life and Nadja and The Angelic Process have a lot of these but they're all very dark and brooding, which I like, but I'm looking for some dreamier stuff.

The only band that comes to mind is lovesliescrushing, and I'm just assuming there's most bands out there like that. I'm looking really sugary sweet shoegaze that also a a big emphasis on repetition. So if anyone has that, that would be cool.

What other shoegaze goes into almost jazzy territory like this one does. This EP's okay, but I'm really not into the grungy side of their sound .

Everything that I've heard by Dif Juz has been great. One of the most overlooked & underappreciated bands of the '80s 4AD. Right there with the Cocteau Twins.
>>
>>53225629
Yeah, alright, they seem to be pretty interesting, I'll check out Extractions first. I'll probably post my thoughts about it back here.

never heard this before, but they've got a nice sound. Don't really like it overall though, not a lot of variance.
>>
>>53226513
Well it is drone; they're actually not primarily a shoegaze band.
>>
>>53226531
It sounds like a blend that was done almost right, but not quite.

>>

it bothers me a lot more than it should that iamamiwhoami is on that chart
>>
>>53226712
Sweet thanks! You're the actual first reply to my request.
>>
When will you guys make a flowchart?
>>
>>53226824
There already is one, isn't there? Go look through the wiki.
>>
>>53226734
Nice catch. That's definitely her most shoegaze inspired album and also my favorite of hers but not shoegazy enough for this chart. I'll remove it and post a new one the next thread. Meanwhile, any votes for how I'll fill it? I have plenty of shoegaze I like, but to be on the chart it has to be somewhat popular and/or influential. Any ideas?

>>53221602
Have you tried the guitarist's other projects?
>>
>>53226871
Which guitarist? Scott Cortez? I've only heard Crush and Pickshinyultrablast by Astrobrite, and they're pretty great. Been meaning to get around to Star.
>>
>>53226833
Didn't find one.
>>
>>53226871
I think Astrobrite - Crush should go there. I know it isn't super well known or hugely influential, but it is a great album that blends the dreamy, more ambient style like loveliescrushing with MBVs pop-y sound.
>>
>>53226903
crush is already there
>>
>>53226922
Oh, I'm fucking retarded. I guess iamamiwhoami should just stay there then. I can't think of anything that isn't already on the chart.

do you have any more charts?
I love that chart you made but.
I love the layout on this one but it's not shoegaze.
>>
>>53227134
that album isn't scott cortez, btw just something random.

Also no one told me Highspire was on there twice so I added grandeur of hair and Clams - CLAMS but if someone has something I missed feel free to let me know, I've already changed about 4 albums based on suggestions here so the more the better.
>>
>>53227167
That chart was made by someone with even less of a life than me. Very nice. There are a couple of good charts in the wiki for dream pop and shoegaze, there's one in particular with a bunch of different branches you should definitely check out, don't have the energy to link it right now, haha.
>>
>>53227193
Yeah the wiki is a good start.
But I find users have a good collection if you ask nicely.
>>
>>53227193
But also I was asking if you has just more of your charts in general.
>>
>>53227233
In regards to shoegaze? Not really... one I haven't updated in months really that used to be my favorite list, it's changed. I have a chart of my favorite albums atm but that's just a slew of different genres. I'm not really that good at making charts i just throw albums up on topsters.
>>
>>53227168
hell yeah on Clams, and personally I'd replace 3 out change with OOkeah (also by supercar) - feel the sound on that LP is much closer to shoegaze overal than that of 3 out (although I enjoy 3 out more)
>>
>>53227300
I was torn. In the end I went with the one that showed up on topsters so I didn't have to find the album cover elsewhere and have the system upload it. I also think 3 Out Change is a slightly better place to start with Supercar even though I'm not a huge Supercar fan.

Cocteau is dream pop more than it is shoegaze, it's why I didn't put Beach House on there. Kairon; IRSE! is decent but I'm waiting to see if they just become more than the flavor of the month and gain a following before I add them to the chart. Pastel Blue is a new one for me but they have under 1000 listeners on last.fm. That said they're good, so if you happen to have a link to that album I'd really appreciate it.
