Alright. So I'm going to do acid for the first time sometime soon. I'm looking for psychedelic music, or any good music to listen to while tripping. I'm referring to the quality of being psychedelic. Not necessarily overtly psychedelic rock, pop, metal, et cetera. In terms of musical attributes, whatever makes stoner rock stoner rock is irrelevant to me. I'm just looking for music that has a psychedelic quality about it. Music of all genres, even if it's only vaguely psychedelic. I hope I've made myself clear. I realize it's probably an unusual request. But let's get this going. I appreciate it.

Bonus points for psychedelic hip hop and electronic music. Sorry for the umbrella terms.

Pic somewhat related.

>>
uhm... Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma, I guess?
>>
>>53213292
Yeah, more or less. But music that works well with acid. For instance, I like Spiritualized, but I can't imagine that being any good for an acid trip.

>>53213301
Word, have their first three albums ready to go. But they're pretty much the only 'psychedelic' electronic outfit I can think of.

>>53213304
Not a bad recommendation, but that's really going to fuck me up what with the already heavily skewed perception of time that comes along with this kind of a high.

>>53213328
Never heard of them. Will check it out.

>>53213347
Word, the friend of mine I'm going to be tripping with is huge on FlyLo, so his music will definitely appear on the playlist.
>>
>>53213328
This.
>>
>>53213260

I usually trip while listening to Godsmack. Really takes it in interesting directions. Would recommend

I'm going to get shit for this, but Echoes.
Also, Kevin Yazzie is a really good choice. Swans if you're into that shit. A couple Washed Out songs, and maybe Toro Y Moi. Miles Davis. Fleetwood Mac. Your pic related, of course, although I prefer it sober.

>>53213347
Also a good suggestion.
>>
>>53213328
Listening now, I dig it.

>>53213429
I'll just have to take your word on that one, anon.

>>53213435
Word, thought about them. Want to steer away from the more obvious classics though. I've heard those albums so many times, you know. But Rainy Day, Dream Away through Still Raining, Still Dreaming is some seriously crazy shit that I wouldn't pass up listening to on acid for the world. Love it.

>>53213443
I want to chill. Definitely don't want to hear anything that's going to freak me out and make the trip go bad. Like. Can. That shit is so psychedelic as far as I'm concerned, but there's no way in hell I'm going to be listening to Tago Mago while on acid. I'd be almost afraid to try that.

>>53213479
Yeah, I find that shoegaze accommodates psychedelia very well. Psychedelia via shoegaze, or just noisy rock in general really, is one my musical fetishes. And I can feel Pet Sounds, for sure.
>>
Just listen to shit you already like. There's no point in seeking out new music when you can listen to something you already know and love and be blown away by how different and enveloping it sounds. Some of the best times I've ever had on acid were listening to shit that's not psychedelic at all.
>>
Sergeant Pepper's - The Beatles
Innerspeaker - Tame Impala
Broken Soul Jamboree - Tipper
ITCOTCK - King Crimson
Bill Frisell - With Dave Holland and Elvin Jones

If you choose just one of these I recommend Tame Impala.
>>
>>53213531
Listen to Neon Indian and other happy chillwave, or if you like, soft alternative rock from the 90's like Belle & Sebastian.
>>
>>53213531
Tago Mago is normal music you pleb.

listen to Faust - s/t

Saw them live while I tripping on acid. Amazing experience.

Also OP, any Animal Collective album. They got a cool psych thing going on.
>>
>>53213623
>Also OP, any Animal Collective album
Wrong
Animal Collective can be too abrasive at times, besides that album, I only recommend AnCo for softer drugs like weed.
>>
>>53213528
Not going to get any shit from me, anon. Echoes is fucking spacey and great. Used to listen to Meddle while smoking weed all the time. Echoes is one of my favorite Floyd songs, for sure.

>>53213550
Alright. That's a good suggestion. I kind of figured. Even if it's not psychedelic music I'm listening to, taking acid is still an incredibly psychedelic experience. It is a psychotropic, after all. So. It will all work out, I'm sure.

>>53213558
Maybe
Maybe
Probably not
Probably not, though I do love that album
Going to listen to a lot of Sun Ra, actually, so I've already got the jazz side of things covered

>>53213563
Maybe. Can't imagine B&S on acid though.

>>53213573
I've heard their catalog too, anon. Shit's even crazier and there's absolutely no chance I'd listen to that shit on acid.

>>53213586
It'd be an experience, nonetheless.

>>53213597
Flying Saucer Attack for sure, love their first two albums.

>>53213623
Probably going to go with Spirit, Sung Tongs, Feels and Strawberry Jam, honestly. Nothing against MPP, just prefer the others.
>>
>>53213573
>Tago Mago is normal music you pleb.
He didn't say it wasn't, hold your hormones down.
>>
>>53213664
You really think so? I don't know, Sung Tongs and Feels are incredibly pleasant, easygoing listens for me. But I suppose shit like Danse Manatee would be much too abrasive.
>>
>>53213668
Twee Pop on acid must be the best experience ever.
>>
>>53213668
Don't listen to the Seer man. It made me really anxious and ultimately made me puke my guts out on weed so it might fuck you up really bad on acid.

Damn, son

I didn't even do that after watching Eraserhead on shrooms
>>
>>53213718
I'll give it a go. :3

>>53213727
I wasn't seriously considering it. Besides, if I were to listen to any Swans album on acid, it would probably be Soundtracks. Which would probably be even worse as a lot of people are pointing out.

>>53213730
Yeah...

>>53213737
Thanks, anon.

>>53213742
No, but I wouldn't mind hearing how dumb I sound. I invite you to elaborate if you'd care to.

>>53213774
>watching Eraserhead on shrooms

Dear God, anon. How are you not kill?
>>
>>53213718
i bet you can feel the innocent love and emotion of twee pop on acid.

i would probably want to fall in love with the motif's singer
>>
>>53213664
Not even Centipede Hz or Strawberry Jam?
>>
Why would you listen to drug music on drugs? The feedback is annoying as shit. Just play some regular shit and have it turn into drug music.
>>
>>53213848
>Not already being in love with The Motif's singer.

Come on, anon, step it up!

>>53213865
Somebody, else raised this point as well. And it's a good point. On acid, all music becomes psychedelic. But I still have to imagine that music created with the intention of being psychedelic still makes for a remarkable experience. I don't know. You definitely have a point though.
>>
>>53213746
>>53213765
When I listened to it, I changed every perceivable texture in the room to woodgrain and watched termites eat it away to leave me sitting on nothing in the middle of an endless white salt flat.

It later turned out that my friend just flipped on the lights, which was why everything got all bright, and I was on 9 doses, but still. 10/10.

>>53213802
That's just it, anon. I am kill.

But seriously, check out Kevin Yazzie. Some SJWs might give you shit for culture appropriation or whatever, but his Four Harmonized Peyote Songs are fucking incredible. Other than that, I'd maybe suggest Sweet Trip's self titled. Great stuff.

Also, what the fuck is up with captcha. I don't want to identify potatoes.
>>
>>53213774
What the fuck.
But it might be the combination of those simply nauseating drones in the latter half of the title track and it being the first time getting completely fucked up on haze (like, I couldn't even lift my arm at a certain point; drifting in and out of consciousness and closed eye visuals).
>>
>>53213903
>9 doses

Damn...

I'll check him out, sounds cool. Never gave much regard to the whole social justice whatever anyway. And Sweet Trip is awesome. Will do, for sure. Thanks for reminding about that shit. And captcha is annoying these days.
>>
Just listen to anything you normally enjoy. You will hear a lot of things you haven't heard before from it and it's going to be beautiful.

Normally I prefer music like techno or deep house, ambient is really good too when coming down. Other cool genres when tripping: trip-hop, chillwave, dream pop, shoegaze... Any band will do.

Also, if you see yourself too high to know what to put, go to www.di.fm, you'll hear some amazing electronic music.
>>
>>53213930
Okay, I could see that
I mean, I tossed fucking HARD when I watched Gravity on 2CE. Would NOT recommend.

That shit was fucking terrifying.
>>
>>53213978
Fair enough. And trip hop should have been an obvious choice. Totally slipped my mind. Anyway. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated!

Lifeforms from the Future Sound of London

To some considered TFSoL best work, a masterpiece of psychedelia with a focus on organic sounds.

Albums are the best on acid. They make so much more sense. I think it all depends on your music taste sober but my favourites and ones my friends have liked when tripping balls are:

- Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin
- J Dilla - Donuts
- Avalanches - Since I Left You (if you listen to one LISTEN TO THIS ON ACID ITS THE BEST)
- Sly Stone - There's A Riot Going On
- Beastie Boys - Pauls Boutique
- Bob Marley and the Wailers
- Animal Collective
- Pet Sounds, Sgt Peppers, they're popular drug albums for a reason

I smoke weed when I do acid as well though so that influences my taste a bit.

Honestly OP, once the LSD goes on your tongue, you'll realize that these suggestions will mostly be meaningless. You'll be so caught up in the splendor of it all that you'll be able to know what you want to listen to much better than a sober person.
That being said, my fondest tripping memories were with Master of Reality by Black Sabbath, Sung Tongs by AnCo (the last 2 songs really melted my brain), and Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth. Also, any Pavement album well ensure a pleasant time, every time.
Don't depend on suggestions, follow your own intuition, that's what the psychedelic experience should be about.
