if you're just starting out, get a cheap portable handy recorder (either zoom or tascam). use those for a couple years and dont get anything fancy unless youre seriously committed. h4n is a standard issue.

>>53050503
they're great value for money, but they dont have the best pre-amps which makes a lot of recordists eventually move on to higher grade kit. definitely worth it if youre interested in field recording though.
going off topic here, but i thought you guys might appreciate something me and my mate put together yesterday.

He records the sounds of glaciers and ice and turns them into ambient tracks.

I would like to listen to some field recording of nature sounds. Rec me something
>>53052204
What kind of nature sounds?
Bernie Krause and Douglas Quin are both really good field recordists who focus on wildlife recordings. Chris Watson is an obvious entry too.
>>53052204
all sounds are nature
ok I know what you meant
listen to Chris Watson's Cima Verde or Weather Report
>>53051539
I know I saw the pic and remembered how much I wanted to hear field recordings of ice a while ago. So here we are.
