how come ive seen no hype about the upcoming aphex twin release?

From what I gathered, Syro didn't blow people away. This upcoming release is an EP and not an LP, which a lot of people may feel that it doesn't warrant as much attention as an LP would.

I enjoyed Syro, it didn't blow me away. I don't think people are expecting this to blow them away, so not as much hype.

What I expect this to be is a little bit like drukqs or Squarepusher's Music for Robots, but that's just a guess.
>>
It's better that there's no hype, that way if it's amazing people will actually be blown away

Holy shit. He looks like Faramir from Lord of the Rings.

the only similarity is they have long hair

leak when
people already have the 12"s
>>
Apparently it's like an evolution of Drukqs' piano tracks with drums. Couple of live tracks are on Youtube, they sound like they could be on it.

there was a lot of hype @ first but it faded fast

Music for Robots wasn't fantastic, but I'm glad he's still innovating and doing him. As far as I'm concerned, he has an impressive back catalog and I'm glad to hear his new material
>>

It's because there's no leak so we have no fucking clue what it's going to be.

Syro blew me away. Fantastic album.

I actually quite liked Music for Robots. The compositions were very interesting; particularly Amber I believe.
>>
wtf I didn't have a clue .. i am hyped!!
>>

You should listen to it its pretty fucking cool
>>
What. When was this first announced?
>>

I'm glad you liked it that much: I wished to as well. Remote Amber is a beautiful glittery opening, and Dissolver was my favourite track (love his wild long tracks). My main issue is that since I heard he's be working with robots, it's sound totally robotic and even deeper off the end than Go Plastic. Obviously that wasn't the case as the robots were playing instruments, but then I became too invested to relisten and hear something like Music Is Rotted One Note. A good EP though, going to give it another listen now.
>>
I think it will be something like Amon Tobin's ISAM.

I'm hype

Syro wasn't great but it was by no means bad

Solid 6.5, maybe 7/10

It's one of the most slick-ly produced albums I've ever heard

If I don't hear a 500 bpm snare rushes on this, then I'm going to give this album a bad review on RYM.

i mean, that's cool and all, but what if he ends up making complete shit with it?

I think for newer fans, (like me) Syro was a pretty great if not mind blowing album. But as for the older AFX fans, I don't think it was that special for them. Still, my favourite is Drukqs. I personally think it's a masterpiece.

Drukqs is my favorite as well. I think that Syro fell victim to the exact same thing that happened with Tomorrow's Harvest. It was BoC's first release in a long time, and was sort of a compilation of all the styles they had explored in the past. As a result, longtime fans were left slightly disappointed, and newcomers got interested and begin to explore the rest of their discography.
