Also Poweramp and android killed the PMP a while back. From a fan of the PMP, I'd say it was killed off by weight, poweramp, lossless support without transcoding and usb otg support.
Not that I wouldn't like a nice lightweight PMP with a good screen. I'd just rather have one that displays album art full screen with a good queue function.

i rocked this thing for years until i was vacuuming my room one day and the headphone wire got caught and it fucked up the headphone jack. i then got a toshiba gigabeat, that died or something, then a zune 1st gen, then 2nd gen, the finally replaced with a iphone 4s in 2012. that shit is still working/long charge without any problems. i never even used a case for it.

Yeah the whole 12 people who want it. Sony occasionally do put out good products but the company as a whole is plagued by fucking awful decisions. Their TV, laptop, camera and phone divisions all are bleeding cash like crazy to the point where they have completely axed some of them. Hell, even one of their only profitable divsions, the gaming one, took years to actually turn a profit after the abysmal PS3 launch and even with the PS4 selling well the company is still facing bankruptcy.
It's not an opinon that Sony are stupid and can't manage their business, it's an objective fact, the company is recording massive losses every single year and yet feel the need to waste money on this stupid fucking player that next to no one will actually buy
