Autechre is the only thing I care about listening too lately. Exai, Draft 7.30, Confield, Oversteps, I feel like I have become a nonstop continuous orgasm while listening to these albums. What other electronic music besides the obvious afx, boc, ect sound like autechre? I mean really glitchy, fuckd, texturally complex, reality melting, technologically insane electronic music?

My personal favorite is Confield but you should start with their 90's stuff: Incunabula, Amber, Tri repetae. (Tri repetae is probably the best one to start with)

Nope, wrong thread.
I'd say glitch is much more compositionally complex and varied than IDM, and less about the textures straightforward rhythms. The latter is the fundamental difference between autechre and clicks and cuts
>>
>>52640833
Majority of glitch is improvisatory/minimalist in nature meaning it's much less complex than IDM.
>>
>>52640743

I did. Chance are I've know Ikeda for much before you yourself discovered him. That track is an ideal example of audio minimalism and only supports my original statements.

you should try Move of Ten by Autechre. i'm a big BoC fan and used to feel the same about Autechre as you, but for some reason Move of Ten really clicked with me
>>
>>52641117
i'm not saying they are alike. but as a boc fan the EP that made me "get" Autechre was Move of Ten, so i figured i'd recommend it
>>
>>52640876
Not really. It's hard work to make something as rhythmic and enjoyable out of such sterile sound sources and short samples.
I mean composition specifically, yes most of that is still fairly repetitive and relies on grains but it doesn't need a massive distorted bassline and heavy drumkicks to make the music feel 'full'.

Idk that's just how i see it. I get a more pure feeling out of it. I could almost say that Autechre likes to mask and hide their weak sides in all this glitchy business, but then again, it's a completely different kind of approach to music and atmosphere.
>>
>>52641273
Arguably it takes more skill and talent to make an enjoyable minimalist work than full-on retarded IDeM wank. Talent and complexity are different things though.
>>
>>52641172
I'll check it out, I've been more or less going through their discography chronologically.
>>
>>52641334
Certainly. It really is hard to find anything that enjoyable and well thought out music on all accounts as Autechre.
As for OP, the closest you can get really is Richard devine and the likes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPXYw5ph-Vg

And.IV is much more closer to Autechre than anything from an or ikeda, for sure
>>
Well, even though Steve Reich is not an electronic composer at his core, you could find his compositions interesting if you see the beauty of repetition.

In Autechre's case, copy's aren't as good as the original. That song could have came out ten years ago's and it would still be mediocre. Nothing about that song was "next level". Richard Devine on the other hand...

Ikeda can be called aesthetically complex.

You're a straight-up retard for applying western, traditional norms to the kind of music Ikeda, Sachiko-M and others of that ilk make, by the way.
>>
>>52643796
>it's probaly the most accessible track on it
That track is the culmination of the album.

>>52644089
The whole album needs to be listened as a cohesive whole. Judging from this thread you, Avant-Math and most anons on this board "get" the album only on a surface level.
>>
>>52644147

Here are my recommendations for you, OP.

Team Doyobi - Choose Your Own Adventure
Team Doyobi is sort of like Autechre if they made music on old computers like Amigas.

Oberman Knocks - Beatcroff Slabs
This album is very dark and enveloping, a bit like Draft 7.30 only spoopier.

SND - MakeSND Cassette
This one is the most different from Autechre. Imagine if Ae made minimalist music and were obsessed with house instead of electro and old hip-hop.

track 3 on oversteps is my favorite Autechre piece, sounds like something you could play in a church and is really sad while a bit joyful because of the high pitched sounds, and the best part of it is that you kind of hear the melody inbetween the sounds, if you know what I mean. Like, it's not directly introduced, sometimes it's only hinted
