Don't get me wrong, there are much more abrasive artists I sometimes listen to, but there's just something about Satan Worshiping Doom that makes it infinitely more angry and aggressive than those other artists' albums that are maybe sonically more harsh.

Aggressive in a good way, or aggressive in obnoxious "only teenagers will think is cool" way like the "hardcore" bands that get thrown on pop punk shows?

what about hanatarash?
Eye fucking threw metal barrels, firecrackers, and sheets of glass at the audience, not to mention he drove and crashed a small bulldozer at a performance, then threatened to light it on fire when it sprung a gas leak.

ironically their performances were much quieter than most noise acts', since all the destruction was unamplified.

Just googled. You win. Never heard of these guys before. Holee fuck.
>>

>anon who's never been to a Nails show
Some of the most pissed off thirty-somethings beat the shit out of each other last time I went. Saw some guy get his head bashed into a brick wall but luckily no broken nose (this time, at least). Some dudes went up on stage and started singing with the vocalist and a bunch of early-mid 20's qts there too. Priceless (and fun! definitely one of the better shows I've been to).

As for the OP, it really depends what you mean by "aggressive."

Some find early Swans to be aggressive, and while they often do sound like roided white trash stalking around an open pit in a dive bar, they're not really what I'd personally call overly aggressive. Definitely a sort of posturing, "I'm a mean boy!" attitude though, which is kind of the appeal. Death Grips falls into this category as well but to a lesser extent since they're not nearly as extreme (but only on Exmilitary - everything after is pretty much lighthearted goofing).

When I think of aggressive music I think of something where there's
1) Actual hate or disgust involved from the band's perspective (ex: most grind, d-beat, crust, anarcho/oi!)

Which is usually accompanied, but can be substituted by:

2) Blisteringly aggressive instrumentation ala Putridity, Last Days Of Humanity, stuff like that.

It lends a more genuine effect to the music when the music matches the emotions. Sometimes the music alone is enough though.
>>
>>52474926
ok

>>52474934
If you've ever heard of Boredoms, the guy from Hanatarash now leads them.
>>
I mean, I guess if you find noise to be aggressive.

It's pretty emotionless. Many noise acts (especially Japanese) will do weird shit like piss on their fans or start shitting themselves on stage.
>>
>>52474946
too bad Nails is shit, learn to powerviolence faggo.
listen to Dropdead, Lack Of Interest, Punch, Graf Orlock, Dangers. OP
>>
>>52474981
Nails isn't powerviolence though.

Dropdead is pretty okay. Never got into Punch or Dangers. I'd rather listen to grind in most cases, although I was spinning some Hatred Surge a few weeks back.
>>
De Magia Veterum if hellish,Gnaw Their Tongues if disturbing, Anaal Nathrak if over the top, Dragged Into Sunlight if low key riffs and drums.
>>
>>52474946

>Some of the most pissed off thirty-somethings beat the shit out of each other last time I went. Saw some guy get his head bashed into a brick wall but luckily no broken nose (this time, at least). Exactly. That shit is fucking stupid.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYzzRR6Wa-g
>>
>>52475004
I agree with you. Physicality is fun but some people take it too far. I got hit in the head at the same show by some fucker who thought diving feet first on a shallow stage was smart.

I definitely dislike highly energetic shows where people are standing around though. Without a doubt the fucking worst.
>>
>>52474946
OP here. I'm looking for the type of "aggressive" that is like Nails where the aggression is musically projected. Noise acts like Hanatarash are brutal for sure, but almost laughable at the extent they go. I think that bands that musically and vocally deliver aggression are much more effective with getting their message across.
>>
>>52474718
Easy DG
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0djHJBAP3U
>>
>>52475046
Well there's a lot that are similar to Nails. The whole Entombed-core fad fits this bill (Black Breath, Young And In The Way, Trap Them).

And powerviolence is a good (better) way to go too. See >>52474981

You could go more crust/d-beat oriented like well-known acts Doom or Amebix. I'd recommend more modern stuff like Mass Grave or early Victims. Absolut's bandcamp debut was solid metallic d-beat too.

For grind I'd recommend starting with two classics: Napalm Death's From Enslavement To Obliteration and Assuck's Misery Index.
>>
>>52474757
It's always been the opposite for me. Satan-worshipping music usually seems kitsch and tongue-in-cheek to me, rather than abrasive or threatening. It's like they know that they're just goofing off and being silly and nostalgic for old horror B-movies. That's probably why I only really listen to doom and find it more accessible than other metal subgenres.

All of their albums are excellent; they all have a subtly different sound and approach to music.
The earlier you go, the grimmer and closer to black metal it gets, the later you go, the heavier and closer to post-hardcore it gets.

Listening to Desideratum right now.
It's beautiful.

Almost every song they made includes eschatological themes, as far as the titles go.

>At a 1985 show in Tokyo's Superloft, the audience was required to fill out waivers due to the possibility of harm caused by the show. The show was stopped due to Eye preparing to throw a lit molotov cocktail onto the stage. The performance cost ¥600,000 (approximately $9,000 US) in repairs.[3]
