Great album but in any time or in any day I would prefer From The Lions Mouth.

One of my all time favorites but I think it is not typical post-punk. So much experiments for a post-punk lp.

Still has to be Fear of Music. If the Slits- Cut also counts as post-punk that would rank on the same level.

PiL actually. I really dislike John Lydon so I have been avoiding them for a long time.
>>52263119
That's a good one.
>>52263130
This too obviously. Anything else like it?

One rec for everybody is Ohama, kind of an obscure Canadian synth artist who put out some good quality stuff. The Potato Farm Tapes is a good place to start.

Btw, I recently listened to Comsat Angels after a while and loved them more than I did.

They are so good and sadly underrated.

Also, Icicle Works is solid, too.
>>

Definitely check out PiL, their first 3 albums are essential post-punk
Also if you want stuff similar to Deceit
check out
The Momes - Spiralling
The Work - Slow Crimes
Metabolist - Hansten Klork
Camberwell Now - All's well

>Is modern post-punk allowed?

Always.

Btw mates which one do you prefer ?

a) Funky upbeat post-punk ? ( Gang of Four, Au Revoirs, etc.)

b) Angsty, guitar-driven post-punk ? ( Joy Division, Chameleons, etc )

c) Synth-driven, more experimental post-punk ? ( Magazine, Ultravox, etc.)

d) So experimental post-punk that even get closer to krautrock or ambient sometimes. ( PiL, This Heat, etc )

I can't get into PiL or Joy Division at all. I like basically all other post-punk I've listened.

I wound't call Magazine and Ultravox experimental but whateves
d) and b)
>>
>>52263465
b) and whichever one early industrial/synthpunk fits in, which I guess would be either c) or d)

Magazine is pretty experimental imho. At least Real Life is.

I wanted to give 2 examples for each letter so Ultravox was the first one that came to my mind. At least, Just for a moment is experimental though ^^
>>
>>52263465

>a)

Least favorite. Never liked upbeat post-punk.

Impossible to hate.

My favorite. I love synths. They make each song better.

>d)

Impossible to hate again and second favorite.

I dont get what everyones issue is with this post. Its The Strokes doing Television. Television was post punk. This is It is post punk revival. Does a post punk revival album not belong in a post punk thread?

Have you listened PiL's Flowers of Romance? Much more enjoyable that their first two albums imo. About Joy Division, a lot of other people don't like them too.
>>52263519
Well, you could have used Suicide or other minimal synth stuff as an example
>>52263579
Metabolist
Glaxo Babies
The Flying Lizards
Savage Republic
The Good Missionaries
The Door and The Window
not really krautrock (except for Metabolist) but def experimental

Bela Lugosi's Dead is an all-time favourite but that was a single.
The first 3 songs from In The Flat Field are great, but towards the back half the album loses momentum.
Burning From The Inside is definitely underrated and a lot, lot better than Mask.

Siouxsie hasn't been posted yet, so this is also a reminder to listen to JuJu.

It is not about Gang of Four actually. I don't like upbeat guitar music much. Gang of Four is the one which make this kind of music solidly but after all you can't enjoy a very well baked potato if you hate potatoes.
