Are there any artists who are just guitar + loop pedal? Or perhaps guitar, drum machine, loop pedal? Or guitar + synth?

Oneohtrix Point Never made all his rifts material with pretty much a Juno 60 Synth and a loop pedal.

Seen a lot of solo guitarists with just a loop pedal, including Fred Frith, David Pajo, and Roy Montgomery.

Let me check my collection. Nothing else comes to mind off the top of my head other than this. He's really melodramatic while playing though.

Is that a good pedal? I'm interested in getting a loop pedal to fuck around with.

You should listen to Ecstatic Sunshine if you haven't, it sounds like it's named

Digital or tape? You can get a cheap 4 track tascam and loop a cassette and then use your tascam as 4 track tape loop. I hear the RE-20 is one of the best looping pedals though.

there are an assload of these type of artist. I see them at local venues far too often and far too often they are terrible

you're not doing anything unique, you're just a TEDx dickweed minus the discipline and talent

It's more than just a looper pedal though. He's triggering the loops and backing tracks with a foot controller.

nope. I've only seen a few of these types.

Beautiful, thick ambient music by a guitar and an analog delay system
>>
So how do I actually get a full setup going?

Right now I have a shitty Ibanez, a $100 amp and a $90 basic loop pedal. I can't take off layers on this looping pedal, or add another layer with different (amp) textures. I have a cardiac condenser microphone, a laptop w/ garageband, an apc40, and a small budget. I also believe I have a preamp (gear I've gathered over the course of 5, 6 years)
>>
owen pallet uses a violin with a loop pedal, especially in his older live stuff
>>
I wish I could use a loop pedal, but none seem to do the tape loop decay that Brian Eno used so well in the 70's. Why even bother.

you can use the version of ableton that came with your apc40 to do live looping and sampling. You will probably want to get anadditional foot controller though so you can trigger loops/samples by foot.

the easiest one to get ahold of and program is the line6 FBV shortboard mkii, it's USB out and send generic midi signals, which you can use the midi-learn feature in most DAWs with.

your regular looper pedal will probably be most useful as a second to last, or pre-delay looper, for making noise, etc.

additionally you'll need an interface to hook your laptop and loops/samples etc into your pedal chain.

If you really love that sound save up for a vintage take loop.
>>
>>51935976
I would just have to learn the basics of using one. Never used one before.
>>
>>51935862
loopers don't really do that. try a delay set to a long delay time, and an analog-mod, or tape mode. these mods usually have a tape-decay/taper to them or a bit of warble.

Go any recommendations?

Wait I just thought about this. Are you sure that you don't mean an echo? A tape loop plays the sound back an infinite number of time. An echo plays a sound then decays based on how much sound is fed back. Ekko 616 is a pretty good analog echo and it comes in a bright and dark variety.
>>
>>51936123
the empress superdelay is great, probably the most complete delay pedal I've ever used. also, >>51936481 rec'd the Malekko Ekko 616, which is good too, if you need a good cheap one, I'd grab a used boss dd-7, it's still one of my favorite work horse delays.
>>
>>51936481
No, a loop with two recorded parts, that decay over time. They both begin to be misaligned, and continue until they're separated.
>>
>>51936354
you're very welcome.
>>
>>51936628
That's really interesting. Do you have a link to the track? It sounds more like a production after effect than a pedal. I'm guessing he recorded a loop > put it on 2 tape recorders > played them back at different speeds into one recorder.
