Shoegaze.

Let's talk about it.

>Favorite Shoegaze albums?
>Shoegaze AOTYs?
>Underrated/Overrates Albums or Bands?

Shoegaze is much more broad than most people think.

Love the pic-related - on related note, the Veldt is pretty underrated
Favorite album, while not strictly shoegaze, has to be 3 out change - one of the few albums I actually own
Dunno about any shoegaze albums this year -any recs?
>>
This is my favorite album of all time I like it as much as I hate myself.
>>
>>51906600
There was The Unnatural World and Birds by Ceremony. Both were pretty solid.

Prove it.

Also, whatever happened to shoegaze/dreampop december?
Wanted to find some more jams
>>
Not AOTY but I dug Beyond Clueless OST by Summer Camp a lot.

That was "meh", and not as broad as I expected.

>Virgin Babylon Records
This should be good.
>>
>>51907047
Can albums be broad on their own?

I mean, the Veldt doesn't sound much like most people's idea of shoegaze.
>>
>>51907098
I expected it to be broad when compared to Shoegaze in general. It sounded very average.
Sweet Trip is something I would actually call broad.

Oh yeah, but the idea is that both bands talk under shoegaze and sound nothing alike. Are you into The Goslings at all?
>>
Everyone post your favorite shoegaze song from this decade.

But the first one sounds a little bit generic, if you ask me, and if you compare Shoegaze to other genres, like Post-Punk, Progressive Rock, or even Noise Rock, you will see it's not really broad (speaking from my experience).
I'm not too much into Shoegaze, so I haven't heard them, but I will try to check out the ones posted ITT.

I'm not a fan of Alcest. The uplifting thing always sounds corny.

You have bands that mix shoegaze with grunge, dubstep, noise, drone, black metal, electronic, krautrock, metal, post-rock, dubstep and brostep, emo, punk, experimental, space rock, goth, post-punk, industrial, folk, neo-psychadelia, etc. It's as diverse as other genres, if not more diverse actually.

>>51908153
>Progrressive Rock
Post-Hardcore, Punk, Noise, Harsh Noise, every metal genre, free improvisation, contemporary classical, tribal music, electronic, ambient, post-rock, math rock, space rock, post-punk, industrial, folk, pop, orchestral

>きのこ帝国 - フェイクワールドワンダーランド
Fuck yeah. Best shoegaze band I've discovered all year. Though Eureka is their best album for me. きのこ帝国 is a great EP as well, and Whirlpool might be one of my favorite shoegaze songs.

>>51908249
>Punkgaze
Ceremony, Die! Die! Die!, I find Husker Du noisy as fuck, almost shoegazish, The Telescopes.

>Krautgaze
Toy, The Horrors, Deerhunter (Cryptogramms)

At most, shoegaze mixes with black metal, ambient and electronica, not counting the oddball release. You're thinking that everything with a lot of distortion is shoegaze, which is not true
>>
can someone recommend me some sad emo-ish shoegaze?
>>
>Favorite Shoegaze albums?
"Glissceule" by lovesliescrushing is probably my overall favorite shoegaze album. The inclinations towards ambient music, segueing, sprinkles of glitch, and subtle details give it a lot of register value for me.
>Shoegaze AOTYs?
"The Unnatural World" I suppose. Haven't been paying much attention to shoegaze this year.
>Underrated/Overrated Albums or Bands?
I don't know about underrated, but I really don't care much Psychocandy, much to my own disappointment. I was anticipating a really great noise pop/proto-shoegaze album, but it just felt like a really drab post-punk record to me. Idk.

My favorite is Souvlaki.

I actually came to /mu/ today, after a long absence, looking for shoegaze/dreampop recs. I haven't listened to many recent releases.

MBV is way overrated (come at me).

So... about those recs. I haven't heard of most of >>51907132 this list. If I have a strong preference for high register female vocalists, what should I snatch from it?
