Punk is just bad. It's just edgy, twerpy music for people who want to feel like edgemasters, while listening to something conceptually simple and idiotic. (I'm not talking about compositional simplicity, which there is nothing wrong with) The lyrics essentially exist to make middle class white kinds feel good about themselves. Punk is pretty much just edgy pop music.

I also enjoy with grunge, regular heavy metal, hip hop/rap that isn't your run of the mill "bling bling/gansta fo sho/for all dem dank and bitches" junk, some glam metal/rock, prog rock/metal, electronic music, regular punk rock, classical, motown, oldies, funk and even some pop music here and there.

Not all that into Black Metal, Power Metal, Folk (Comus excluded) and puffball acoustic driven indie rock.

Can't stand pop punk, old/new country (except Hank III and some Johnny Cash), the rap/hip hop I mentioned above and one cent black metal junk.

Special mentioned must be made towards noise. I think Merzbow is overrated as all hell but there's some noise stuff I dig.

Tony Conrad with Faust - Beyond the Dream Syndicate

It's a mammoth release within minimal music that goes largely under-appreciated around here. It becomes more impressive the more you've heard Faust on other records. Also check out Four Violins. Tony was a mathematician more-so than musician, and his work reflects that with attention to precision.

La Monte Young is an asshole because of the constant power struggles he caused within the Dream Syndicate (The Theatre of Eternal Music) by claiming himself sole songwriter and composer (a claim contested in the minor history Beyond the Dream Syndicate [good book btw you should read it if you're interested in minimalism]) and how he is sitting on hours upon hours of unreleased recordings _refusing_ to allow anyone access to them.

Feels great bro.

Industrial rap is musically close to alt-rock.
Especially jazz rock.
Whatever that you didn't understand.

My point is that 99% of music you listen to is alt-rock with slight deviations that aren't far from alt rock.
For example no one listens to actual intrumental or rap or pop etc, even if they do is a sub/fusion that is close to alt-rock.

Have fun being wrong in all possible ways.

>>can't name anything that is wrong
I named stuff that I thought was wrong, though.
You don't think it's wrong because you said it and you're an infallible arbiter of music genres.

>For example no one listens to actual intrumental or rap or pop etc, even if they do is a sub/fusion that is close to alt-rock.
I do. And I've seen people in here listing instrumental music, pop, and hip-hop a LOT. There may be a slight alt-rock bias, but to say that genres that have very little to do with alt rock like synthwave and industrial hip-hop are similar in sound to alt-rock (they're not) just to prove a point is fucking retarded and you should off yourself.

>/mu/ is a hivemind
That's disproven here quite often.

>be honest
>see the big picture
I love it when dumb faggots hyperfocus on minute bullshit that makes sense only to them. and then ask people to "see the big picture".

>I do
Who gives a fuck if you do, I'm talking about items listed itt, I don't care what you do in your basement.

>asks to be honest
>keeps dodging questions

Literally smiling with you, it's not the fact that you avoid everything, it's that you avoid and at the same time you are so damn sure you're right.

Guess what, you'll always be right as long as you don't face anything that proves you wrong.
That's how delusional people stay delusional.

>minimal music is 2deep4u

...what ? A large movement within minimal muic was the introduction of consistent, rigid consonance and universal accessibility in response to the elitism within the _actual_ "2deep4u" composers.

>indeterminate music is 2deep4u
...what ? Chance elements within composition and performance are "deep" now ? You'd think it would be the opposite, seeing as how giving up strict composing to chance gives up a large portion of the artist's conceptual control over a piece...

>improvised music is 2deep4u
... what ? Jazz is 2deep4u ? Folk music is 2deep4u ? Onkyo is 2deep4u ? How ?

>That's cool that you like genres that aren't as widely popular as others
...such as baroque music and indie rock...

>but you seem like the type who flaunts what you listen to in other peoples face.

This is a really late reply, but I don't think that significant punk influence taints music I listen to or anything, it's just that generally, (There are exceptions, and I always keep an open mind) I find punk bands to be pretty crappy.
