I love that song so much on album, but it relies entirely on how they produce it and keep the riff/vocals muffled and low until the explosion of sound near the middle of the song.. Kinda loses all of that shit when they immediately play the riff loud and have his singing up front in the mix. .
Still though, gonna listen to the album version of that tune right now. It slays.

I actually saw Meatloaf live a few years ago and he was indeed awful. The girl he had singing the female vocals was good though. She could have been lip syncing though, I don't know. Also he fell out of his stool and kept complaining about the government.

He flubbed a lot of shows but these two were filmed and have long existed as bootlegs for the world to see. In the Seattle show Jimmy looks like the walking dead, a skeleton in white playing really shitty covers of Led Zeppelin songs. "Since I've Been Loving You" normally featured THE hottest guitar playing of the fuckin night. In 1973 the song was filmed and showcased Page's mastery of his instrument. In 1979 it was a fucking embarassment.
When Page went into the archives to produce the Led Zeppelin DVD he used Knebworth footage BUT he used footage from the show the previous week, which was exceptional at many points in the evening. The Seattle footage was not included. Page said no multitrack recordings exist but I think he couldn't figure out how to cobble it into a workable performance.
