Nice to see you too, Anon.
>>
>>50860912
Have you heard this album? The feels will drown you. They will pry your mouth open and envelope your insides with their webby residue. I only listened to this album because it came up on random in Wikipedia and it fucking kills me that no one here has heard it
>>
>>50860906
Why should I listen to this
>>
Didn't you post this yesterday
>>
>>50861017
I will not rest until it gets the recognition it deserves

>>
I'm dling it now. This is REALLY not the way to get people on here to listen to a album though.
>>
>maybe if I praise this record 40 years after it was released /mu/ will end up liking it
Revivalists are the worst
>>
>>50861142
I'm sorry. But maybe you'll understand after you listen.
>>

Small towns fucking suck that's why they're small towns, nobody wants to live there

10/10
>>
>>50861302
Wait this album is a 10/10?
>>
>>50860906
If you like that album and claim to be a fan of The Velvet Underground, fuck you.
>>
If anybody is actually curious, the album bears no relation to The Velvet Underground. However, if you are familiar with the solo careers of Lou Reed and John Cale, it sounds exactly like what you'd expect if you put those together. Their solo careers were nothing like their time together in The Velvets, there was much less experimentation and much more pop stylings. That said, the album has about two good songs but more for the lyrics (seeing as they are all about Andy Warhol).

Please explain
>>
>>50861372
not him, but because it has nothing to do with what TVU were about
>>
>>50861372
You're favorite "Velvet Underground" album is obviously their second s/t or Loaded, people like you are the worst.
>>
>>50861315
Depends on if you like Reed's lyrics and half spoken word delivery. I happen to be a huge fan of it so I dig the album for what it is.

But musically it doesn't sound anything like VU and isn't nearly as exciting

I'm not really sure how to score it
>>
I like that album, it's pretty underrated. But i'm a fan of Lou Reed's solo stuff.
>>
>>50861483
Reed's stuff is extremely inconsistent, but when it's good it's God Tier no doubt.

Transformer is one of the greatest albums ever
>>
>>50861399
not even that guy and my favorite VU isn't even s/t or Loaded but fuck you guy
>>
>>50861522
protip: if your favorite album is TVU&N, but you favor their ST or Loaded over WL/WH - fuck you
>>
>>50861522
Hey, there's nothing wrong with liking those albums (except Loaded, fuck anyone who likes that shit) but it's not a "Velvet Underground" album.
>>
>>50861546
protip: if you can't acknowledge that WL/WH is historically their most radical and important album but that as a whole choosing a favorite is pointless because their first four albums are each completely different and completely perfect in different ways - okay
>>
>>50861581
But you're wrong.
>>
>>50861581
Maybe if you listen to them chronologically backwards, S/T and Loaded were consecutively more and more disappointing after WL/WH
>>
VU have the most obnoxiously pretentious fanbase ever.
>>
>>50861611
Go back to bed, granddad.
>>
>>50861611
Being pretentious ain't all that bad, you have to be at least somewhat pretentious if you're an artist.
>>
>>50861596
>>50861602
>>50861571
can you guys seriously not into songs? I'm all for the more abrasive stuff but if you can't appreciate the craft of songs like Who Loves the Sun and Pale Blue Eyes then you don't understand Lou Reed.
>>
>>50861611
Pretentious, by definition, is to pretend that it's something more than what it actually is.
If you think TVU is not what people claim it to be I don't know what's your idea of music in 1967.
>>
>>50861636
Who Loves The Sun is fairly catchy, but Pale Blue Eyes was just horrible, sorry man. If I had to pick something off their ST I'd go for Candy Says, Murder Mystery and After Hours I guess.

>>50861639
Not that guy, but this?

>>
>>50861665
Not that guy but I hope you do realize The Velvet Underground were doing that sort of stuff in 1966 so you didn't really prove a point.

I love Parson Sound though. One of my favorite 60's albums.
>>
>>50861695
I'd post From India to Tunis, but it was done in 1968 and I suppose TVU didn't have the personnel to produce anything like that (mostly because of Moe Tucker, I guess)
>>
>>50861742
>Moe Tucker
do you want to say she's bad?
>>
>>50861765
Do you really want to say she's good?
>>
>>50861765
I want to say she wasn't capable of playing jazz-influenced psychedelic noise rock, which was probably for the best as far as TVU goes.

>>
>>50861786
I like Moe, she may have been the least prolific of the band but she has a certain childlike innocence to her, especially in After Hours.
>>
>>50861781
she is really good. now go listen to dream theater.
>>
>>50861813
Have you really not listened to her solo work, pretty good and certainly more in the vein of The Velvets than any of the other members.
>>
>>50861813
she also has a great timing, she is kinda proto jaki liebezeit

>>
>>50861813
Her minimalist drumming approach was prominent in many ways, but that's not what I'm saying. She did so not entirely by choice, but because otherwise she'd fuck up songs probably. Now imagine if after all those tame beats she goes all free jazz together with the band. Would have been something I tell you

Seconded
