There's a few bands that have reached a literal untouchable status in pop culture, and The Beatles are the head of it. When you pass down that they're the best band in the world like 3 generations of music illiterate plebs, they basically reach divine status and are treated more as a religion than a band, even though most people who are so vehement about it hardly listen to them.

I think they're pretty great, you should check it out. My favorite albums are Rubber Soul, Revolver and Srg. Pepper, I would check them out if I were you. It aged really well, or at least I think so. Don't bother listening to anything before Rubber Soul though, unless you like pop a lot. And even if you do, there are plenty of better pop bands around.

Are they becoming dated? I didn't use to think so, but now that we're in the 21st Century I feel they're becoming so. Their music still holds up well and has for at least 5 decades. Things have just changed so much in music and I do feel that simply because of time The Beatles are becoming less relevant in society. Especially considering that the former members are in the twilight of their lives.
I love The Beatles myself, but I feel as I've got older and into more artists that their relevance in society, lasting, again, almost 5 decades now, is finally on the wane.
