>>
>>50619257
right so basically, dont listen to this >>50619238

a dj tool is a track that doesnt work well outside of a DJ set. the kind of track that might be the same 4-beat loop for 8 minutes sort of thing. when i said that first post i was speaking in quite vague terms cos i thought you already knew what a dj tool was.

a dj tool can also mean a track that a dj can use/(abuse) to easily get a big reaction from a dancefloor. joy orbison tracks in particular work so well because they have clear-defined 'drop' structures and use vocal samples
the name "Big Room Tech House Dj Tool - TIP!" is taking the piss out of the hardwax record descriptions which sound very similar to that. the TIP! bit was something they used to use to identify their staff favourites, basically. since joy orbison came out with that track they've stopped using it because it became a meme of some sort and they're too cool for that

no it's not. u need to go. experience the massive sound systems, the lights, the drugs, letting the djs take u through the night, the crowd, the mcs, the culture, everyone dancing

if u don't like clubbing ur going to the wrong clubs. probably shitty student places with sticky floors, leather shoes, button up shirts, drunk people, screaming girls, everyone trying to get laid, shit house/hiphop/top40, people trying to talk to each otehr, worrying about how they look

it's not about that. go on resident advisor and look at what djs u post about on here are playing in w/ever city ur from and go to it. if u really honestly find the music too loud, bring earplugs, u won't get judged for it

About half of what I listen to isn't made anymore so I don't need to go to clubs to hear it. I don't care about hearing the latest DMZ VIP that no one will ever hear unless you see them live or shit like that, as long some consistant good 12"/EPs/LPs keep coming out that's enough for me. I think I can appreciate it fully without going to clubs, what's the difference apart from it being louder in a dark room with a bunch of dancing people?

>>50621245
Would go to and complain about my feet hurting and wanting to be at home playing video games.
>>
>>50621348
>what's the difference apart from it being louder in a dark room with a bunch of dancing people?

hearing the tunes on a soundsystem surrounded by people genuinely adds another dimension to the music. theres a lot of tracks which i hear which sound lackluster until you hear them in a club setting and it just 'makes sense'
>>
>>50621348
I do exactly the same during a week but i still live for the weekend to go out. The experiences of home and club are incomparable
>>
>>50621429
What dimension though? I'm basically becoming deaf now so this is pointless but if I bought a massive soundsystem wouldn't that be the same thing.

For example I know these tracks loose their main appeal when not played on a large speaker system but I still like them.

>if I bought a massive soundsystem wouldn't that be the same thing.

yes, but that involves buying a massive soundsystem
>>
>>50621802
I'd prefer than having to be in a place with that many people cramped together, shit man I hate people touching me, can't handle clubs for that alone. I could probablt afford a decent one in a few years. But like I say, getting more deaf so it would be a waste of money.
>>
>>50621894
you really are an oddity, my friend
>>
>>50621721
it's like comparing watching a film on a smart phone to watching it on a proper tv, sure it's the same thing you'r watching but it adds a new dimension.

>>50622016
but you're even more of an oddity, ninja

an endearing one, i'll give you that
>>
>>50621894
I dunno man, i have a reasonably good setup for music at home but it still cant compare to hitting a club.

Its just that much better when everyone in the room is digging the tunes as much as you are, adds a social aspect to /bleep/ music that i've come to love (in the right clubs anyway). Plus most people dont have a lighting rig set up in their bedroom so they lose out on that.

But different strokes for different folks, as long as you enjoy the music its no big.
>>
>>50621721
it's not just about that. just dancing to it for 6 hours or w/ever adds another dimension. having a dj there who is tailoring their set to the energy and what people are reacting to in the crowd adds another dimension. taking drugs (if u want) adds another dimension. just being in there with hundreds of other people who are all there to hear and love the same music adds another, almost religious, dimension. the lights, the smoke, the crowd being whipped up into such a frenzy by how amazing a tune is that the dj is forced to reload the track adds another dimension. just go to a club once, man. u don't know u don't like it till u try it
>>
>>50621721
The difference between hearing your favourite bangers on your headphones to down at your favourite club is comparable to the difference between jizzing into a sock or jizzing into your qt gf who you love's fanny

Both are great but one is loads better than the other

Still though, you gotta be trolling tbh but whatever ... my point still stands
>>
>>50621053
i found the 2013 special request album very fucking dull. Almost made me feel like it was backward-thinking and empty techstep album instead of a forward-thinking jungle album (minus the house'y, garage'y parts). I could not bare a single minute of the lower tempo tracks to be honest.
I did check out Fanu's 2013 LP's and found a few tunes that i loved, but those barely reminded me of jungle.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDKBgqGf4S4
did he really have no other option than to mash this sample into it?
FFF - Keep the fire had a lot of tunes that i liked, but it all felt kind of directionless and nothing really stood out.

Only trying to get into this, so excuse me if i sound completely clueless. I'm rather interested in some catchy and simple 808's accompanied by some nice breaks.

Skimmed through youtube for your suggestions and didn't find anything that i'd like. Especially hate the garage and house influences.
>>
>>50622016
>As Titch said "Stop touching me, I'll get mad.
This is one of the few feels I know. Ghetts really needs to stop imitating Crazy Titch, he's terrible at it.

>>50622072
>when everyone in the room is digging the tunes as much as you are
Despite not looking for them, I am convinced no one IRL in any sort of proximate locaton to me has similar music taste to me.

>>50622102
m8 I don't dance, I don't even move in ways that could be mistaken for dance. I like bleeps and all but allow dancing.
>>
>>50622221
tbh jungle is the definition of a dead genre. people have moved on, it's all nostalgia now and has been since the late 90s
>>
>>50622259
obviously u don't go to clubs that play music u don't like, lmao

>But different strokes for different folks, as long as you enjoy the music its no big.
I'm glad we can all agree on this.
>>
>>50622269
I see. Commercial suicide do have some artists that seem to remind me of 90's jungle, and have some more melodical things worked into them, but on discogs that's simply labeled as dnb without a mention of jungle now.

Hate to be asking to be spoonfed, but someone mind pointing me to some classics, or essential stuff from the 90's then?

Special Request - Soul Music was my AOTY of 2013, which was doubly impressive given that the Manix LP came out that year. I found it to be a good blend of music with really obvious throwback sound but still produced in a way which made it sound modern. I get asked for old school tracks which sound similar to it and I usually can't find anything which sounds exactly like that sound, most the older stuff is faster tempo and has more pianos/more breaks etc. It feels to me like Soul Music was specifically made to sound reminiscence of old school breaks but still sound unique enough to stand on it's own, whereas something like Class of 92 and some of One Foot in the Rave basically sounds like it could have come straight from 92. Soul Music is essential WWUii92 but much much better.

Interesting. I should probably give it another try. Don't really have a good understanding of production to bring out anything specific. Just, cheesy, in a way that's not fun is the best way i can put it. That's the vibe i got from most of the tracks.
That Digital track was very nice though.
