hey /mu/

I only just got round to giving this album a shot and holy shit I think i'm in love, it's pretty amazing, can you guys rec me some stuff similar or just equally as bizarre (in a cultural distance kinda way)?
>>
being 12 is fun, right?
>>
>>50406432
you got the numbers back to front.

Ain't even mad, it's a fucking fun and unique record
>>
>>50406448
why would you be mad about someone saying your young on the intenret
>>
>>50406475
Because on this board it's typically an insult

But whatever, fair point I guess.

no-one has any recs?
>>
>>50406503
you want weeaboo jazz-punk fusion recs, my dude?
>>
Check out 385

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL-ixFZwzQU
>>
>>50406546
yis pls
>>
>>50406597
niche genres and niche artists. be happy with what you have.
>>
>>50406564
definitely this, 385 is the most similar to Midori imo
Melt-Banana and Mass of the Fermenting Dregs are worth checking out too
>>
>>50406610
That's why I also asked for recs that are bizarre in a cultural distance kinda way.
>>
>>50406410
>or just equally as bizarre (in a cultural distance kinda way)?

Please leave
>>
>>50406636
I am already a big fan of Melt-Banana, will check out mass of fermenting dregs
>>
>>50406646
why is that such a bad thing to ask for?
>>
>>50406637
Manu Chao, maybe?
>>
>>50406658
Boredoms
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ5Ps0TPoX0

Can u dig this?
>>
>>50406709
I actually have Boredoms, did not realise they sounded anything like this, will give it a shot now cheers

>>50406708
will try shortly

>>50406564
That was cool, you got a link to the record?
>>
>>50406760
use the archive for the record. the album is called 人間
>>
>>50406754
>look mum i'm trolling
>>
>>50406810
Got it, cheers
>>
Brand-new idol society
>>
>>50406708
Not bad just not quiet what I was looking for,

I mean't more stuff that sounds totally unique and is a complete product of where it's from
>>
>>50406830
>bizarre (in a cultural distance kinda way)
But I guess you lied then.
>>
>>50406881
yuck, there is a reason I don't listen to totally generic rock or anime music.

Sorry dude, cheers for trying
>>
>>50406910
It's not bizarre though, it's just from a different culture, I have heard plenty of records that sound similar to that.
>>
>>50406945
Fair enough
>>
>>50406929
>generic anime music
Haha
>>
>>50406990
I don't get it
>>
Closest thing from Midori apart from 385 is Wakusei Abnormal:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eox9zLxlTLc
It's a little more poppy but still has that frenzy feel to it.
>>
>>50407060
I'll give it a download/listen but on initial listen a tad to poppy for me, but who knows, it might grow, cheers
>>
Ruins - hyderomastgroningem
>>
>>50407123
Also if you're interested in the japanese rock/jazz aspect of Midori, maybe try Mouse on the Keys:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsJwy7lNzj8
It's definitely more jazzy and it has no vocals but you might like it
>>
>>50407150
>Ruins - hyderomastgroningem
pretty solid will give it a shot for sure
>>
>>50407190
I actually already have a Mouse on the Keys record, was getting into Jazz pretty heavily recently, yeah I do enjoy them for sure
>>
I listened to it for the first time yesterday too.

All I gotta day is that I liked the beginning and end of the album, I might need to listen to the middle more to get into it. I wouldn't mind some reccommendations based on this.
>>
http://youtu.be/Q7wyme5fpcw

Give it a shot.
>>
Where can I listen to this album?
>>
>>50407003
BiS is a well thought out idol project playing with and at the same time criticising the dark sides of japanese idol pop culture while drawing influence from genres such as harsh noise, alternative rock and extreme metal. Worked with important alternative artists such as hijokaidan, jun togawa and most recently the avant garde metal collective vampillia. Not sure which anime or pop rock radio station you'd find it on...
>>
>>50407243
Can you recommend me a song because the song I heard was to close for comfort if that makes sense.

I don't personally think just doing something "ironically" makes it more listen able, has to be REALLY obvious like Danny brown's Radio Song
>>
>>50407236
Yep, totally dug that, will look into them, cheers
>>
>>50406708

like not even remotely similiar in any way..

>>50406410

john zorn's work w/ naked city is the only jazzpunk that can come close to this glory. I rec torture garden or naked city.

Cheers, got the self titled, excited to hear it
>>
Deep Turtle
>>
eiko ishibashi sounds similar
>>
>>50407460
It's almost like I found a different band entirely, holy hell, that's pretty awesome.
>>
>>50406564
I love 385 so much. Maybe even more than Midori

I've always felt like they were a little less jazz and a little more funk though
>>
>>50407460
Ok I don't get this, how is there such an ubsurd sonic difference between the stuff you are showing me and stuff I'm finding, can you reccomend me an album?

did they change their sound halfway through or something?
>>
>>50407726
They're pretty genre schizophrenic so to say. They did start out a bit poppier, though.

Idol is dead is probably the most fun and bizarre album. Then there's the self titled EP from the BiSkaidan collab. Might be pretty hard to stomach at first but well worth it.
>>
They're not really similar to Midori and I don't know if I'd call them bizarre, but you might like Mutyumu.

why would i fucking bump this thread?
here, OP, try this, type "sage" in the "options" field
>>
>>50409719
I was referring to my post, you gave me an excuse to post a reply to something.

Of course I know what sage does.

If you don't like my music taste then why not recommend me something "good" instead of shitposting?

nice memeing
>>
>>50408830
This is bugging me now, that first song, is it on that album or is it like a bonus track?

I downloaded the album but it's 11 tracks long and doesn't include that song
>>
Kind of unrelated but was Hello Everyone Nice to Meet You ever released in North America in record form? I checked discogs and shipping was really high from Japan and I can find it on Japanese amazon but not Canada.
>>
>>50410168
That song's on their first s/t album, I'm not sure why they used the wrong cover art on the video.
>>
>>50409780
>I was referring to my post
Holy shit backpedaling. Take off your trip you fuck, and maybe you'll get better responses.
>>
>>50410508
