Fecking Bahamas - I. Japan
>>
>>50190165
I appreciate the update. I was just dicking around when I made the chart. Hopefully someone turns it into an actually readable format some day because I sure as hell am too lazy to.
>>
>BBNG
>math-rock
OP confirmed for idiot
>>
>>50187991
This thread is making me cringe a bit.
>BBNG
>Math rock
>most people only mention mediocre 3rd wave bands like You Slut, Cardiacs, etc.
>those that do mention decent 2nd wave bands (Yowie, Hella, Tera Melos) forget some big essentials

Like someone here said, Don Caballero is 100% essential, OP. In fact it's the number one band you gotta listen to right now. They even have the same guitarist as in the Battles. Listen to their whole discography, it's great and also shows the evolution from post-hardcore to absolutely complex math rock.
Other essential 1st wave bands include (and most of these have really short discographies): Slint, Bitch Magnet, Drive Like Jehu, Rodan, Storm and Stress (again, same guitarist as in the Battles and Don Cab - Mr. Ian Williams), Polvo, Shellac and June of 44 (these last 3 have a bit bigger discographies).
Most 3rd wave bands, imo, just aren't worth it if you listen to 1st wave first like a normal person.
>>
>>50190229
yeah some of those are kinda bad, lel. like the transition from don cab to adebisi shank. it's like miles apart. i didn't change that, tho, it took too much work and would probably require a way bigger remodeling of the whole chart
>>
>>50189877
>100 Onces
Great album! More people need to hear it. Do you browse /r/mathrock?
>>
>>50190343
bitch magnet, polvo, and shellac arent math.
>>
>>50190446
oh yes they are m8. see: >>50190165 and >>50189877
>>
>>50190446
I agree, but anyone who listens to math rock should still listen to them
>>
>>50190446
they are though
>complex rhythms
>time signature changes
>strange/different guitars
just because they don't have the catchy twangy guitar sound doesn't mean they're not math, idiot
>>
>>50190467
m8, those charts includes everyone and their fucking mother. not everything is math yo
>>
>>50190467
oh well the chart says so guess its correct hurr
>>
Lightning Bolt bruh
>>
>>50190557
>>50190555
see: >>50190549
>>
>>50190569
yall dont know what post hardcore is do you
>>
>>50190590
but math rock is basically just a post-hardcore subgenre/derivative thing. not every math rock band has to be a fucking don cab rip off, dipshit.
>>
>>50190590
also, if shellac and polvo aren't math, why the fuck is drive like jehu math? what's so special about them?
>>
Tera Melos is all you need.
>>
>>50190723
... the fuck? Nobody calls Drive Like Jehu math rock. You're talking out of your ass dude.
>>
>>50188654
I second Giraffes Giraffes
>>
>>50190819
