Welcome to /bloop/, the other side of /bleep/, the place where we discuss any post-techno popular electronic music that our club oriented brothers tend to pass. That is, mainly, IDM, and other music related to it.

You haven't heard pic related? It's the R U Oho? 12" Remix EP from Lackluster. Every single track is stellar, and the release is a cornerpiece to any serious collection.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d16CFDKxTdg

Also, there's the wonderful FACT magazine list that is surprisingly credible, the upper half just released to day, have a look!

http://www.factmag.com/2014/09/22/the-100-greatest-idm-tracks-100-51/

Taking part in any flamebait from /bleep/ is discouraged, they're a nice bunch, except for the few with woeful insecurities and self-esteem problems.

Can we broken beat or similar or does it have to be techno related still?

>post-techno

stop
>>
>>50108139
Nah, broken beat is fine by me. I don't actually know too much about it apart from the obvious ones (Prefuse, etc...). Educate me.

Neat. I mean, I know what it is, but I don't have many releases in my library. The list seems once again credible, will plow it through.

thoughts on syro m8s
>>
>>50108378
I had initially high hopes after Minipops, but after hearing the whole thing I was left a bit underwhelmed. It's a very good track, and I was expecting at least a few to surpass it, but in the end I don't think there were any but maybe a couple ones that barely averaged it. Needs another listen, but I'll be pushing the decision regarding purchasing a physical copy into the future. Nearly 40€ is too much at the moment.

>the top 10 on that FACT Mag list
Can't say I'm surprised by the artists included.

Where was Chevron on the list though? Emails and Viruses is fucking beautiful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5vEk_FWrGY
>>
>>50109179
I was surprised about the Arovane track at #7, it's my favorite from him. Nice to know someone feels the same way. Other than that, what do you expect really... it's almost "mandatory". At least the tracks were pretty good choices. Maybe not the artists' best pieces, but at least iconic and/or significant historically.

A FACT list that I actually, and I don't even like post-techno(idm for the amerifats)
>>
>>50109349
I actually agree with*
>>
I am extremely disappointed that Clark was nowhere on FACT's IDM list. Also, there are better cuts off Proem's Negativ that deserved mention.
>>
Is FlyLo accepted in /bloop/? Some consider his music IDM, others just lump him together with Dilla and all that stuff

I like FlyLo anyways
>>
>>50109465
I'd hardly consider FlyLo IDM. Influenced, perhaps, but it's more like that LA "beat scene" hip-hop.
>>
>>50109465
/bloop/ and /bleep/ tend to focus on artists otherwise largely ignored by /mu/, but I don't mind him being brought up. Is his latest release any good?
>>
>>50109497
for sure, he really only stepped into IDM for me on Cosmogramma. Still, I love almost all his work.

To be honest I don't think most of his albums are that good, but the remix stuff is fantastic. He has some great recent singles though. For an example the soundtracks to these. Esa is a pretty stand up guy.

i always get such a fussy warm feeling from the plod album. it's homely. maybe it's that steaming flask of hot beverage on the cover. who knows.
loving this freeform track, i just wish there was a bit more low end to pad it out a bit.

Yeah honestly the Plod from a quick listen sounded better than Freeform, he isn't really something to write home about but nice enough if you want to get into this stuff in-depth.

If you want the homeliest IDM that the earth carries, then you NEED this album in your life. The sixth track including its remix... just, no words...

>>50111624 here: fair play. Warp's a favourite too.

I'd favour Rephlex over Mu from what I've heard of each label because there's just something about the former's releases that always makes me feel great.

Maybe it's because they're older releases on average.
>>
>>50112407
My only problem with Replhlex is that it can sound a tad to acidy for my taste. Some stellar releases from the still...

>Bocum Welt - Module 2
>Bogdan Raczynski
>Tango N' Vectif, Bluff Limbo
>The Tuss

I probably have a lot more to explore in their repertoire.

I don't know if this really fits in here, but I guess ASC is more /bloop/ than /bleep/.
Favourite producer of all-time. I wish he got more recognition because he makes really original music.

When these howls/soundscapes start creeping in at 1:30 it's just the most beautiful thing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnbQXvoRQKQ

And I don't listen to ambient really, but I doubt anything can compare to this and some of the music on his ambient albums. It's just gorgeous.

>>
>>50113495
Well for one there are a lot of releases there that are neither minimal techno nor microhouse, a LOT more than the ones marked with a star. I'd remove at least two thirds of it. Maybe some day we could work separate charts for both genres separately.
>>
