How do I get better at composing a song? I write pretty good riffs or whatever, but suck at connecting the dots and little intricacies involved in creating an entire song.

Everyone just needs to find out what singing style most matches your voice. I just cannot sing clean, which is the type of singing I like most. But I started looking for harsh vocals, such as Tom Waits and Michael Gira. And then I decided to try some black metal (which I didn't like before) And I now believe I have hit a point at which I can really push my harsh vocals to new levels.

You just gotta find your natural style that works for you. I mean, I came to learn I have two vocal styles that I can do best, in my lower register a Jim Morrison-esque croon sounds best, and in my upper register I sing like some pop punk fallout boy motherfucker. I mean, my voice is what it is. If I don't sing in the way that comes naturally, its very obviously forced and unnatural sounding
