I like how livity sound are doing another compilation for their remix releases.
Not all of those releases are particularly great in my eyes, but it really adds to their clear-cut aesthetic thing they have going on

Pic related, my favourite out of the remix 12"s

>>
>>49220191
Most of the remixes are terrible...

>>49220308
/bleep/ is for music you would hear in "underground" clubs such as fabric, Berghain and Trouw, festivals such as Dimensions and Nuit Sonore, radio stations such as Rinse and Intergalactic FM, podcasts such as FACT magazine podcast and Solid Steel podcast or read about on sites such as Resident Advisor or xlr8r.

This music includes genres brought up by >>49220414

/bleep/ is a mosty yuro-centric general, as although much of this music originated in the US, it is now produced and consumed largely in Europe.
>>
>>49220453
yeah fine with it although not as many people here know anything about it or talk about it so don't expect much discussion
>>
>>49220453
Noisy techno such as
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNVkTWZOVwM
is discussed, harder noise and really hard techno rarely.
>>

Skream is /bleep/, although most consider his recent productions to be shit
Daft Punk is technically /bleep/ but never discussed as you will rarely hear it in a club
Burial is /bleep/, but again rarely discussed as you listen to it at home, or on le night bus

swamp stuff is pretty good. most people have heard their tunes rinsed to death by their DJs so everyone's bored of them now. but if you're going to a swamp night for the first time you'll like it. expect stuff at house/techno tempo, very dark atmosphere and a lot of bass and drops like the hessle, livity stuff

Does anyone know where i can buy The Trilogy Tapes label in digital?
>>

I don't think Pan Sonic would really belog in /bleep/ but A is my favorite of theirs if you haven't heard it

thats because i just started going through it dipshit

check that new bluntman deejay on all caps. and check the fuck out madteo if you haven't already, lowtec too, man owns workshop and all that. get through their catalog too
>>
>>49231119
and like opal and trilogy tapes' vinyl releases have quite a chunk of that gritty house, especially black opal releases from cloudface and patricia, naka naka one comig up too. anthony naples and tuff sherm/dro carey from ttt.

check out ital's lps on planet mu, man even sites lsd and acid as his influences

Looks pretty cool to me to be honest, I've never understood why people hate shufflers except for the fact that they're generally dark.

And there's normally lots of space on the edge of the dancefloor for them.

Fair enough, he worked hard, his sets aren't actually decent compared to others on that list, and he's a solid dude.
EDM is a different world, these DJs make 10-100x what the average /bleep/ DJ earns because the audience is so much bigger.
>>
>>49242779
I saw calvin harris in the pissing rain at TiTP whilst completely fried on 30mg 2c-b and it was surprisingly one of the best moments of this year
>>
>>49242779
Seen him twice a few years back and they were both pretty good. EDM DJs earn disgusting amounts but I'm happy it's a ickle scottish ruffian at the top and not any of the other cunts.
>>
>>49231317
this is just a bad version of footwork/juke
>>
>>49220308

I find it hard to believe people are still interested in these washed up djs. Tiesto has been djing as long as most of /bleeps/ has been alive.
>>
>>49243224
yeah they are seriously not even musicians. Tiesto is such a huge joke
>>
>>49220125
this shit is tight but not that popular. just got this album a few days ago.

>>
>>49220414
So, basically we're just trying to discuss music that's as minimally creative as possible?
>>
>>49243309

lel coming from someone who has hundreds of gbs of techno i can say that this does ring true on some fronts. There's so many eps dropped daily that's it's nearly impossible to look through them all and if you do you'll be largely disappointed/exhausted from so much shit that sounds exactly the same.
>>
need some decent poof house

stuff like midtown 120 blues etc
>>
>>49243332
i just really can't take that entire section of electronic music seriously at all. it's easy to make (which is why there's such a ridiculous amount of it) and it really does all sound like the same stock synthesizers and 4/4 kick, snare drum patterns. it's just incredibly boring, if you don't even want to analyze it musically. hahaha.
>>
>>49243402
techno i have to admit is often very samey

but a lot of the UK genres are in fact pretty diverse.

>stock synthesizers
this is the same as people thinking that dance music uses 'stock drums' when in fact it's producers using classic drum machines like the 808 and 909. dance music in general pays homage to its roots. therefore stuff like certain synthesizers and drum sounds will be heard in thousands and thousands of tunes across multiple genres
>>
>>49243480
i make electronic music, so i see that point. but at what point are you just being lazy? if i just use an 808 or a 909 for everything i make, how is that paying homage? that's literally just laziness.

>f you don't even want to analyze it musically
>>
>>49243514
well it's not really. both those machines have a very distinctive sound and are actually really useful. i find one of the best ways to add energy to a track that's already going is to add a 909 ride, for example. they give off a certain vibe
>>
>>49243536
man, fuck you. this is a music board.
>>
>>49243556
i really don't buy that. there's an infinite number of sounds to be used, and you choose to use the same one over and over because of a certain vibe. that's ridiculous. the point of making music is to make your own vibe. the sounds don't do it for you. well, they shouldn't.

What's the shittiest /bleep/tune you've ever heard?
>>
>>49243563
and we're discussing dance music. im one of the biggest dance music nerds about but i'll be the first to admit that it holds little artistic value compared to most other types of music

it's like any other music, though. the more you listen to it, the more subtle nuances you pick up. guys with collections of hundreds of '93-'95 jungle records aren't buying them thinking that they all sound the smae
>>
>>49243602
yeah, you're right. i just tend to think of it in terms of electronic music as a whole. or just music as a whole. that's why it bothers me so much.
>>
>>49243563
and this is /bleep/ which is primarily club music.
and if you start 'analysing' the music in a club then i feel for you son

well that's your opinion. if you don't like em, use something different. i find that if used sensitively and sensibly the 808 and 909 (among others) almost add a little 'authenticity' to your music.

think about it, some peoples' entire back catalogue is based off the 303 and no one is kicking up a fuss

>soundcloud introducing ads
goodbye soundcloud you were ok for a while
>>
>>49245974
soundcloud was for artists like me who were underground and unsigned, they are truly fucking up.

i dont want to see any adds on soundcloud. they already make bank from artists who subscribe to the pro accounts. they are also going to introduce listener accounts so that people can bypass the adds.

the new interface sucks and laggy as fuck. this will kill soundcloud for what it was actually for in the first place.
>>
>>49246433
often they might post on FB event page or something, or you might have to just wait until you get there. Some clubs don't like posting the exact lineup so that people don't just show up late or whenever just to catch a specific act.
>>
>>49246099
ultimately a disappointment but it was destined for that because of outrageous amounts of hype

cheesed off that it was 50% previously released material

annoyed that it became sub-pitchforkcore and digested by faggot indie rock listeners because of andy's involvement
>>
>>49246099
I liked it
Didn't love it though, it was good but none of it blew my mind like stott/DS's other work
>>
>>49246099
a lot of hype over some fairly middle-of-the road 'jungle' revival. at worst a bit of a hypetrain, boomkat sponsored cash-in... if you want to be cynical about it. more likely just andy and miles having a bit of fun - fun that should have stayed on their hard drives.
>>
>>49243579

>>
>>49247180

>>
>>49246793
yeah, and how many people still write classical music? i mean, come on.

>>49243729
are you honestly making the point that creativity is actually about copying copies? you want to stand behind that?

>>49243793
how is wanting to do something new autistic? why does everyone immediately go to calling someone autistic, as if they aren't participating in the argument?
>>
>>49246433
most of the time, the facebook page for the event will get a post at like 8pm on the night saying "SET TIMES:"

you just have to be patient
>>
Someone summarise this dumb argument over sound design so i can dismiss it
>>
>>49247309
some guy criticised dance music for using the same 'stock sounds' over again, someone explained drum machines and synths etc. and he's saying that's boring and uncreative

Art is expression; dance music is an expression of human vitality and instinctive sexual drive. I'll admit other forms of music can evoke more complex expressions that relate to contemporary life, but to say dance music has little value in comparison is simply unfair. Music made to accompany dancing pre-dates socialisation and therefore doesn't deal with the same subject matters as, let's say, folk, which developed in accordance with unified language among social groups - dance music merely uses physicality and body-language as opposed to words. Its primitivism doesn't preclude it from having value.
