I always tag singles as aside/bside, because I think having spaces either side of a forward slash looks stupid, plus in sentences it's convention not to have spaces, so why would I use them in a title.

>>
>>48965890
buying records in summer isn't always a good idea. especially importing them, since the delivery time is longer so there's more chance for them to get left somewhere warm

i waited til workshop 20 was in stock at redeye before i bought it for this reason

I live in Australia so I have to unfortunately. I also didn't realise it was warped until I was playing it at a gig on friday night which pissed me off.

Fuck what the people say about this club nowadays, the line ups are still immense.
>>
>>48965936
Is that Lando Kal? What happened to him? Everyone was hyping him a couple of years back but I haven't heard anything from him for ages.
>>
>>48965936
Who says it's a bad club? Berliners?
I was there last year and it was really fucking good. The sound could have been a little better and everyone was a tourist but the music was so on point.
That party they had a few weeks ago with Abdulla Rashim, Dopplereffekt, Surgeon, Peverelist and Kassem Mosse would have been an amazing weekend.
>>
>>48965993
Yeah, most of my mates shun Tresor because it is mostly filled with ossies (people from the former GDR) and tourists, due to its easy door policy. I think that's cool though, make it about the music more than the people listening, unlike that umm.. other techno club *cough* berghain.

what's wrong with tourists anyway? do they wear bikinis and take pictures?
>>
>>48966439
this lol, it's fucking stupid how berliners feel that tourists 'ruin' the atmosphere of their clubs. more often than not the tourists are bigger techno heads than most of the locals

Depends what kind of tourists, at fabric most of the tourists are annoying aussie girls who a dressed up more than is practical at a house and techno night, and they are irritating. A lot of the european tourists are great though; even if they're not heads they still really get down.

but i'm not talking about london tourists, i'm talking about berlin tourists. there's 2 types: those that go to the techno clubs because they think it's just part of the sightseeing, and those who basically go to berlin for the sole purpose of going to the clubs and listening to the music and having that experience. more often than not, the second type get turned away from the doors which I think is the greatest flaw in the berlin door policies

Farbfernseher, Griessmühle, Loftus hall, Hoppetosse, Chalet, Club der Visionäre, Humboldthain, Kosmonaut, Prince Charles, Salon Zur Wilden Renate, Sysiphos, Berghain.

Some of the ones listed are more touristy than others. They're all great clubs though.

>>48966439
I personally don't mind them at all for the most part. I've met some really cool tourists and I generally prefer talking to them over other Berliners since Berliners tend to be very arrogant.
>>
>>48966722
you're obviously projecting

just use silk road for the drugs, you'll have the best quality stuff in there

although i do always go with friends you could very easily go without them. just pop whatever you're taking and start dancing and you'll get enough people coming up to you asking "what you on? what's your name? and where you from?"

I wasn't trying to say that I have a problem with Ossies. What I said was that some of my hipster friends have problems with them and won't go to clubs where they are more present (I personally think this is absolutely ridiculous behaviour). It is true that some of the Ossies have a fundamentally different mindset concerning certain things however.
>>
>>48966800
That's great, thanks for the list. I'm only there for 9 days so won't be able to see all of those places! Any must-see or particularly special places (aside from Berghain) that you'd suggest from that list?

>waking up still high
I don't think I've ever slept for more than 3 hours and woken up still high, even in dam
>>
>>48966906

>>
>>48966563
couldn't be more different for me... a comedown means 4 days of feeling depressed and slightly disconnected whereas a hangover is simply a mild headache which evaporates by the afternoon

>>48966866
can you get arrested though if it's a small amount? I thought you only really get into trouble if its enough to be considered to have intent to distribute... otherwise it's just a slap on the wrist and your gear confiscated isn't it?
>>
>>48966942
No, the younger ones aren't really affected by the wall, only slightly by their parents maybe. Some of my best mates' parents are wallies.
I guess the effects were being somewhat traumatised of growing up in a totalitarian state. Extreme cases that I have personally witnessed showed signs of bigotry, xenophobia, strong conservatism amongst other things.
But like I said, these are just extreme cases mostly, you can find assholes anywhere.
>>
>>48966984
why am i not in prison then? it's just the friendly mdma experience. made like 10 "friends" and plenty of hugs and handshakes on friday through that sort of talk

it's not illegal to have drugs in your bloodstream anyway and most clubs accept that 90% of the people there, in london at least, are on something so just have to allow it

the R-A-G tune is definitely on the right kinda lines.
Not heard that Omar S tune before, nice stuff but I think it would be safer to keep the energy level higher, I'll try it pitched up as you suggest.
Never heard Daniel Jacques before, good stuff.
Bambounou is 2cool4me. It's great an all, but it's not the more down-to-earth vibe I'm after.

So, what's the next new genre/scene gonna be? It seems like we haven't had much since post-dubstep that wasn't a rehash of older sounds. And even that wasn't really that unified of a scene.
>>
>>48970449

That 90s garage sound is slowly making a comeback in murrica especially in the west coast.

Overall techno is making a comeback from what I see.
>>
>>48970449
No idea about over here. I'm hoping we get some new creation to emerge from the fusion of neo-grime, garage revival, and footwork. Everywhere else, I think "Garage/Deep House" is the big sound of the moment.
>>
>>48970449
PC Music. Bubblegum bass if you want to call it that. It's the only original sound to properly take in the past year or so, and it helps that it has genuine crossover appeal into pop scenes.

Once Sophie gets his track out with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu it'll probably blow the fuck up (in Japan at least) and when it gets big there it'll end up in American pop music some time down the line. Then it'll end up dead as dubstep.

It's supposed to sound fake, or at least unhuman. It's PC Music, personal computer music. Depending on how deep and wanky you want to get it's music that perfectly captures where we are as a species right now. It's incredibly synthesized, fake, made on computers, and any human influences or lyrics in songs are vapid and meaningless (see Lipgloss Twins or GFOTY's ode to meaningless sex Friday Night). It's emoji music. Computers representing human emotions.

holy fucking shit the more I hear of this music the more I know I'm getting old.

lol, it's just a pop sheen

"forward thinking" jesus christ, haha. it's just some 20 year olds with logic writing syrupy pop music. get a grip man

Sorry for enjoying fun music. Forgot this was bleep.

So techno is the best right guys?
>>
>>48971805
i'm not telling you you shouldn't be enjoying it or that if it's fun it's crap or that techno is best, mate. stop getting defensive.
>>
>>48971767
Out of interest have you ever listened to any PC Music stuff and thought what went into the production?
It's a lot more forward thinking in that it's something new that no one's ever made before. It's a new sound, and the fact that you're shitting on it just for it sounding poppy makes you seem like the sort of "i enjoy techno" douchebag that I wouldn't want to hang out with in real life
>>
holy shit I fucking hate this plastic pop/autistic new age revival bullshit trend so fucking much

>>
>>48971866
>>48971866
Jesus christ man, you're getting really butthurt.

Yep, I've listened to it and thought what went into the production - that's why I said it had a pop sheen to it. It's just really bright and crisp VSTs - lots of compression. Kind of like EDM or something but obviously less banging and more song-like on the whole.

I'm not shitting on it for sounding poppy, either. I listen to techno but I also listen to a lot of other stuff, including what could essentially be considered pop music of some sort. I said it's production aesthetic was a pop-sheen and implied that it's not very forward thinking just because it's all bright and glittery.

Production aside and more focused on musical content it's not that innovative, either. Somewhere between nursery rhymes and Special D’s Come With Me but with lyrics about school girls fancying boys.

All I have said is that it's not as brilliantly innovative or forward thinking as you're claiming it to be and you're getting so upset by that: "I wouldn't want to hang out with you in real life" haha

Fair enough mate, me neither lol

Still getting used to Ableton. There is a lot to learn for me. I'm literally going from never having produced a track in my life to this. It'll probably take me around a year to get comfortable enough with it to actually make and complete tracks. I have no problem with it tho. Gotta pay dues and all that.

also it can't be that steep a learning curve for you can it? given that you must have a certain amount technical knowledge from your DJing... and you obviously listen to a lot of music so it's not totally alien.

Definitely agree with this sentiment. I've never had that bad a comedown. A stimulant comedown consists of feeling apathetic, tired, and a little down. At worst, cracked out and fried. But nothing a little weed can't fix.

Alcohol hangovers are the worst of any drug. The headaches, the nausea, the throwing up. Way more physical and harder to brush aside.
>>
>>48976702
you must be buying shit drugs if you think a hangover is anything compared to a mandy comedown

>>
i don't really get comedowns - but i think that's cos i feel like shit normally like my brain is sapped of any feel good chemicals when i'm sober anyway
>>
>>48977051
youre taking too much then, you need to space out the time between each drop, or you seretonin stores will be permanently damaged.
>>
>>48976870
Probably tiredness.
>>48976737
I've taken MD from lots of different sources in multiple countries, from last ditch club pills to dealer shit to Silk Road orders and none of it has ever been as bad as a serious hangover.
The nausea alone is horrible, the weakness and inability to eat doesn't help and mentally I feel like I'm entering full on depression.

Other people can get a whole bottle of vodka down them and be in lectures at 9am the next day, whereas a comedown results in them disappearing off the face of the earth.

Drugs affect everybody differently.

>Other people can get a whole bottle of vodka down them and be in lectures at 9am the next day, whereas a comedown results in them disappearing off the face of the earth.

yea this is me. what you described as a hangover is what a comedown is for me. i dunno maybe im just one of those ppl that don't get hangovers. Alcohol has pretty much no negative affects for me except feeling sick when i drink too much but that rarely happens. Mandy is nausea, no sleep, suicidal depression, paranoia and anxiety guaranteed

Yeah mate, that's called depression plus possibly generalised anxiety disorder. This is coming from a sufferer of both. Get to your GP and get it sorted mate, it doesn't get better without help.

anyway feel like i'm going a bit too off topic
