Ok, so i've listened to more of this so called "grime" that people are raving about here.
Listened to a few mixes, but imo a lot of this new stuff is pretty average and uninspiring and calling some of it grime is questionable.
In mixes like Facta's Hyp mix, and Visionist's fact mix, there are a lot of really forgettable tunes that just plod along and sound like album fillers or something. Also the production quality is pretty basic, and not basic in a raw way like old grime.
It just sounds like a new step in all this "bass music" shit: moving on from trying to remake 2 step, people are just including recognisable grime samples and detuned square wave synths etc. to give off this grime aesthetic but it's not really well done, and some of it is as if they're trying way too hard to be experimental like mumdance.
If it's so good, what are some actual good mixes that are grime and not some fairy shit. Seems like people here are grasping for straws and latching onto something they think is fresh, new and part of a scene when it's pretty uninspiring to me

i don't think it went down like that. those 2 guys are obviously big, big into grime and have got a lot of nostalgia about the pirate radio days. so, they took some of their favourite clips and put it together as a tribute to the old school grime sound. the fact that only 130 copies were released suggests that they're not in it for the money, they just wanted to put out a little project based on their love for grime music and i don't see what's wrong with that

I don't rate P Money but I think he would have won. His bars went in harder and I reckon they would have caused more hype. I've thought H had many good bars at all, just one or two that were deemed so good that every MC ripped off his flow for a while. Even in Meridian/Bloodline I think Prez T and Bossman are better MCs.
