Listening to Squarepusher as of right now.

Listened to this earlier, the N Type & Surge and Inkke remixes were my favourites. Will have to force myself to listen to Bop - Punk's Not Dead later. Also need to listen to the new DJ Earl EP, should be good hopefully.

I got a bunch of Nice 'N' Ripe off Soulseek so I might listen to that as well later.

I've been equally moved by poetry as I have by music in my lifetime. The point of the poem, which hasn't been talked about much if at all, was that the entire album was ghostwritten by Shanghai Den. The entire album. So do with that what you will. Shanghai Den became too powerful. Took over everything. I wrote the poem, she made the album? It's a real whodunit."

I never really liked Bop's style of D&B but I'll listen to it eventually. Generally prefer higher BPM stuff, I can see that it's technically really impressive but I'll probably end up liking it less than Keeno's LP and Royalston's LP but more than Rawtekk's LP. I've only now just realised Med School have put out 4 albums this year, pretty impressive.
>>
yo what's some essential Kahn I should hit up?

Honestly basically everything of his. Gorgon Grime is also really good.

>>48625109
Yeah that's the reason why I never liked it as much, prefer 160+ BPM a lot more. New Keeno is really nice, has some full on Jungle tracks on it and also som slower more Ambient stuff. It's not even funny how much better Med School is than Hospital now.

>>
>>48625244
He did own the early 00s as far as Liquid Funk so in a way I'm glad he's successful, but every new Hospital main release is just so sub-standard to what they used to put out which is really frustrating. They are also really pushing that whole 'live D&B' thing much more than back when it was just London Elektricity doing it, especially with Netsky.

>>48625343
Some of that Keeno album is like that, some of it is a lot better. Etherwood's s/t last year was all Liqquid Funk but it was really well made.

>i really care for the weirder edges of dnb these days anyway

It's not actually anything new, it's just a label sampler of everything out on Samura Horo (apart from Scope obviously).

The D&B being made today is probably more interesting and innovative than it's ever been, but if someone gave me choice between all this new Exit/Critical/Samurai sound or 96-99 era Techstep despite it not being so much different from the Jungle that came before it, I'd take Techstep everytime without even having to think about it:

The most similar to it would probably be No U-Turn. Specifically the later releases (the earlier stuff is god tier Jungle so check it out though) and it's sub-label Saigon. It's ran by Nico who works very closely with DJ Trace for a lot of things and Torque is one of the best D&B compilations/LPs anyone will ever hear.

Other similar ones would be stuff I've already mentioned, Audio Blueprint/Underfire, Penetration Recordings, Protoype Recordings. Also Virus Recordings, the earlier stuff on Oblivion (Fierce's label), Tech Itch Recordings and Defcom Recordings. Most of BC Recordings is like DSCI4. Also check out the Techsteppin comp on Emotif Recordings.

DJ Trace is one of my favourite producers and I also really likeDSCI4 as well. Techstep is just too good.

There can't be a definitive best, it really is up to preference.
Mine's Fabric 69 (Sandwell District)
Cover for Ben UFO's is best

the reason its guilty pleasure stuff is that all those choons from 2009-early 2011 like fantastic mr fox, some of faltydls stuff, a select few of the jamie xx remixes were latched onto by people who didn't know about dance music history via jamie xx being in some band or other and James Blake having rebloggable hair (which is what turns any scene into 'guilty pleasure' territory). it then got worse when no one could think of anything new to do with '''post dubstep future garage uk bass''' and it all ended up sounding like varying ratios of submerse, burial, and mount kimbie

I reckon held is far, far more guilty pleasure than koreless anyways
>>
>>48632312
>rebloggable hair
kekd
held was pretty disappointing after his first EP. koreless however is just a couple of easy listening tunes that you enjoy when you hear them once every couple months
>>
Holy Other EP is genuinely really good. One of Tri Angle's best.

The LP is p bad but I'd take it any day over that Koreless Yugen crap. Wtf was that. Some of his earlier tracks from circa 2010 blogs were p ok tho.
