i'd actually say that trap is more liked in the underground than it ever was, now that it's blending in with grime. for example, some of the keysound gang like e.m.m.a and rabit play a lot of trap-flavoured tunes in their sets. i saw youngsta a couple months back and he played a pretty sick trappy tune near the end of his set. in the right situations, the right tunes can be pretty sick.

this all being said, people still dislike rustie. soz

>>
>>48212346
i thought it was a mess and i'm a bit of a ben frost fan boy. the lead synths on it are horrendous as well.

also people will tell you it's not /bleep/ technically.

also, op, if you're around: how does the vinyl version sound compared to the digis we've heard so far? the low end stereo trickery particularly - is that even there on wax?
>>
>>48212482
Dude I know what you mean, I've tried, it's just not accessible.

>>
>>48212448
Well opinions are mixed. I personally found it quite refreshing compared to some of the abient/noise music out there. It's not a release that will give you instant satisfaction and I would say that maybe half of the tracks by themselves aren't worth listening, just uneventful and weak. But overall, I really liked the atmosphere that was created and subsequently torn down only to be created again. Even if its not AOTY quality, its definitely worth a listen or two.
>>
>>48212564

Get any DAW or a Akai S3000/S3200 sampler or A Roland W30 and start messing with breaks. The Roland Juno 1 was used to get that oldschool hoover sound, along with other synths/keyboards including the Roland D50 and the Roland
JD - 800.

Take this if you don't have it already
>>
>>48212750
>comes in when the kicks hit.
just to clarify: it happens every time the kicks hit on rough 2. it's like a stereo layer on the kick or sumin.
>>
>>48212781
thx brer. i just need a break or 2. should be good for the rest.
>>
>>48212783
ok i just had a listen. there's maybe slightly more bass presence in the left channel than the right channel, but i could just be listening too hard for something that isn't really there. however, the itunes sample is pretty much identical as far as i can tell. i think it's just the youtube/WIP version that had the stereo bass stuff going on
>>
>>48212750
its ease

just get the break, chop into 8th notes. move them around. it's easy enough to get something hackney parrot like going. it's all about looping it from weird places in the bar.
>>
>>48212913

>>48212935
s'not the sequencing i'm thinking of. more the way they sound. i half know how to get to there, just haven't been asked to sit there to make em sound right. just a lot of nicely controlled saturation and compression.

great post
>>
>>48215514
ok i'll just list some of the stuff i have

most of the origin unknown stuff
most of photek's stuff
goldie obviously
the first platinum breakz comp
some moving shadow singles (like terrorist for example)
deepest cut vol 1 by omni trio
self evident truth... t power
sound murderer by remarc
black secret technology

probably some other stuff i'm forgetting but i'm obviously no expert here

really just looking for a good foundation and knowledge of the classics, whenever i start with genres i pretty much always start with the classics and then move from there

thanks as well m8

First of all there's these.

Breakbeat Hardcore/Jungle: http://www.mediafire.com/?i7a1b7dvgdgdx

Breakbeat Hardcore/Jungle/Drum & Bass: https://mega.co.nz/#F!FQohzYYA!elH7Myk0DPE9We-2DFtYyg

From these I'd check out the following labels:
Brain Records: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5X0jJZaQM1U
Ganja Records: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAaa6SJP1mo
Tearin Vinyl (essential): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgDrr9fNA6U
Rewind Records: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jfcbk8BoAWs
Tom & Jerry (essential): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riuegh8HHCg
Hardleaders: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5WLvidFv5I
Kemet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7_ukgii0p4
No U-Turn (essential): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a5YvcPgqL0

There's a few things in there that started out as Breakbeat Hardcore and became Jungle over time, such as:
Lucky Spin Recordings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HDWTQ1c71A
Dee Jay Recordings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prFk3bLlLMU
Suburban Base Records (words cannot describe how massive this label is): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNGddllF7AA

Reinforced Records and 4 Hero's stuff is also phenomenal, classic and essential all at once (Golgie owes his career to them).

I could go on but that's probably enough for a start.

Pretty banging m8, slightly 2hard4me but I tend to only listen to that sort of shit when I'm in the mood for it.

It also made me realise I haven't listened to anything from Enzyme or it's sub-labels for like 3 years now.

i'm new to bleeps and djing so go easy... but just wondeing how djs deal with music of different tempos or would a dj set all be roughly the same tempo?

thanks!
>>
>>48216279
i've got loads of other stuff... i'm just not too good for lies, sorry mate
>>
>>48210248
Still waiting for mine from bleep

#post-service-anxiety
>>
>>48216272
I guessed as much.

I've also only just realised I've had Genosha One Seven Five downloaded for ages but never listened to any of it. I'll probably end up liking it more than the main label since it's more breakbeat oreinted.
>>
>>48216312
they lean on the record a bit to make it go slower. it needs practice to get it right.
>>
>>48216503
i know you're trolling but also i know that you do that for small changes in tempo / tracks of roughly the same bpm

what i'm wondering is if djs do entire sets where its roughly in the same ball-park in terms of bpm or wether they play something at say 80bpm and then some stuff at 120bpm later in the set
>>
>>48216415
175 have a few good tunes, esp their last EP.
>>
>>48216575
i was just having a laugh.

i think it's usually similar bpm. dubstep or bassy inflected garage nights for example would all be around 130 - 140 bpm.
>>
>>48216575
Really depends on the style and the set time.
Some DJ's will play at 125-135 for 6 hours straight (see Ben Klock & Marcel Dettmann), and some others like Sven Vath or Laurent Garnier like to start their long sets at a slower pace.
>>
>>48217450
mmmm ghey
>>
tried to make a head high type banger but where do i go from here

http://vocaroo.com/i/s0xDTNYwvJfy
>>
>>48215543
it's just the same as placing any regular order tbh m8 except you get to choose when you get it delivered. redeye = best by a country mile

>>48213441
very late reply but no, i was implying that complex = hard to produce, not necessarily good. kassem mosse's untitled A1 on workshop 12 is incredibly simple with few elements to the track, but would be very hard to reproduce, and that's not just down to the fact that he uses a lot of hardware

What's the most expensive / valuable bleep record one could buy on Discogs?

Bleep-related: that Burial vs Massive Attack is the most expensive thing I've seen. Released 2011 with 1000 copies and the cheapest currently on sale is £190 and the most expensive is £396.71

ayy lmao

some first presses of Basic Channel/Chain Reaction (even a lot of their second hand CD's) can go for $1000+ easy.

Am I missing something here? Just looking at the first Basic Channel releases from the 90s and they're going for a fiver
>>
>>48221092

A lot of those are re-presses.
>>
>>48221193
I'm on the page for the 1993 releases and such, not the represses
>>
>>48221193
>>48220852
nope, even the first presses of basic channel stuff never go for more than like £50ish.

from what i've seen, valuable /bleep/ records tend to be cheaper than in most other types of music

however you do get a few exceptions

this AFX promo has 2 copies for sale for £1000 and £7000 from different sellers

Turns out discogs do lists for the most expensive sales of each month - who knew black metal was so expensive?
