Vaporwave was 2012. I remember seeing constant posts about it and trying to figure out if they people were misspelling vaporware.
>>
1- A guy create a fake genre and problably post covers and post info/stuff here
2-Some guys ask examples and some people post stuff from previously existing genres that make them think of what op is saying
3-After some time, some see those examples and post similar albums to the songs they see
4-Time pass, and some like those songs people are postng and decides to make similar stuff. Their stuff ends posted on threads and fits on previously existing genres.
5-After some amount of time those guys songs are posted more then previous examples.
6-Some guys see those examples and try to copycat them, they are copying guys that copyed songs that people said it was from the fake genre. People start to follow cliches the artists of step 4 saw on the songs on step 2.
7-Now you have guys that focused on cliches.
8-With new artists seeing the artists of step 7 and following their mess, a new and real genre start to follow

Something between The Smiths, Talking Heads, Tears for Fears and Joy Division will BURST outta nowhere and take control.

sure - but I'm talking about on the top, burning charts.
pop punk was going strong in the 70s/80s too, but then it was watered down into late 90's/early 00's sk8/pop punk. then it was saturated and died in the mid 00's. It's still going, but not on the radio.

Vaporwave is the only one of those genres that produced artistically valid music (namely the works of Dan Lopatin).

A lot of great works like Person Pitch have been retroactively classified as chillwave. As a genre itself it is still worth recognizing but not as much as vaporwave.

Witch house is good too.

I'm not that into seapunk, but lolicore essentials really depends on your taste. it can range from speed/splittercore to extratone, breakcore, grind, ambient, etc.

Goreshit is a staple of lolicore, doing breaks and speed mostly, but with some more ambient works
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z9SbmIflWU

there's also people like japshitfun, who are a bit more harsh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuTsBkkP97E

For a p good variety of styles within lolicore, you could check out the lolicore nation album:

2014 is the year of Synthwave.

Synthwave grew a ton in 2013 and it's only gotten bigger in 2014. Artists like Perturbator and Com Truise have become popular even in parts of the "mainstream" EDM community.

Some people write it off as nothing but more 80s nostalgia, but it's sure as hell refreshing to listen to compared to all of the shitty wubwub and trap EDM garbage that's dominated electronic music for the past several years.

Synthwave is fucking great. There's a good amount of variety in the scene too. You've got high tempo upbeat stuff, slow atmospheric stuff, etc. Some artists are dedicated to sounding as authentically 80s as possible while others freely make use of more modern sounds and production techniques. The genre isn't full of rigid rules about sound and aesthetic.

I think the biggest reason it hasn't gained the kind of viral attention that vaporwave did is because it's synthwave artists and fans genuinely like the music, they don't do it "ironically" for hipster cred and Tumblr reblogs.

Within and Without was released in 2011. Com Truise released something pretty recently. I don't think you can say it stopped at the end of 2009, it's just that the initial boom stopped and it sort of started creating releases at the rate of a normal subgenre, akin to dream pop.
