I'm not sure if I'm even going to be able to go to a music festival this year, but if I do, it would be Pitchfork Festival. My other option is to wait for Lollapalooza's lineup to be announced and by a day pass for whatever day is best. The problem with Lolla is that the attendees suck ass. They are the worst music festival goers around mainly because half of them are underage Chicago kids fucking everything up at the EDM stage and spilling over to other stages. Another problem is that Lolla, out of the big music festivals, is the most pop-friendly fest out there. Fuck Lolla if they put Bastille and The 1975 on the bill

It's great, just as much for non danish people as natives.
If you are camping out, you have to be there at least a couple of hours before they open saturday at 4 pm so you can run in and get a tent spot. Depending on how much party you want to sleep through, the different areas provide different atmospheres. Find out where you want to camp, look at a map, and get entrance booking for the right entrance.

I agree, the atmosphere is the reason I go these years. The majority of the lineup just isn't for me but there's always a couple of bands who make it worthwhile and even for the price of a ticket these days, you're hard pressed to find a long weekend away and two/three bands you really want to hear for the same cost.
I remember the first time I went there, just as a favour to a friend, filling in for someone who had pulled out. I was only seventeen at the time and didn't much care for festivals but holy shit, download that year cemented a place in my heart.
Eleven years later and I'm still going because I love it so much.
People can shit on the lineup and the fans as much as they like, download is great fun if you don't give a shit and just throw yourself into it.
