well it's a fairly lucrative market
thanks to an explosion of popularity of Korean pop all around Asia, it's become south Korea's main cultural export, so there are lots of business minded folk trying to get their piece of the pie
basically, an entertainment company will take on talent, train them rigorously in singing, dancing, and generally being a public figure, then debut them in groups
lyrics, costume, choreography etc is pretty much exclusively done by koreans
some companies have in-house producers, others import their stuff from Europeans, but most work with a largish handful of Korean producers and production companies for the music
you can sort of think of it as a weird splinter of the American pop music industry that thrives in Asia and is only niche here
that's how you get about 1000 artists you've never heard of coming out of what seems like a pretty dead place musically, because they're making their money in china, korea, japan, and southeast asia rather than the west
