old one is dead and rotting
this one is fresh!

i'll listen to and leave feedback on the first 5 or 6 people to post at least, if not more.
this doesn't mean that nobody else should listen and give feedback. in fact, it mean you should all try to leave feedback for someone.

Hell, I will go first then. Since I've listened to some tracks on your new release I'm save to say that your stuff is "meh". It's not bad; the compositions are certainly really flashy, weird and beep boops are all the way. I kinda like how it is mixed with some aesthetics of more progressive genres; the shifts in progression and sound get me on to listen to you more. But the production completely broke my immersion. It seems your stuff is without a kick, sounding really empty which was worrying. There isn't certain amount of excitement and while I would say whole thing sounds good in out of it self it loses something in me. It is nihilistic, it certainly feels flashy but also it sounds like a background noise rather then a music which I would listen to on my audio system any time soon. Production seems to be a problem for me but I don't know. It certainly feels flat for me. But don't take my word for granted - I tend to avoid electronic music which sounds a'la progressive house/trance and stuff like that so I'm not the best judge...

>>61553170
Hey, there is something with bit more potential. I like that composition style, that fluidness of your work. It certainly feel well put together and thought out. But for no reason at all I HATE that production style. I think guitar is too loud so it makes my ears bleed and scream in panic. Maybe I expect my post rock to be a bit more blurry but that clean production is not good, at least for me. But yeah, the album is superb and I would pay for it. But this screeching guitar make my head numb and it's no fun at all when you get tired after just couple of tracks. But yeah, keep going with that. I believe there is a lot of potential in this idea!
>>
>>61553170
really liking the cut of the drums in the mix of the first song. even when the rest picks up, it all comes through very clearly. a few spots are hard to make out whats going on past the ride, (around 3min) changeup at 3:40 is killer, i'm a sucker for drum parts like this. bringing it all back around was cool, the bass is really well done.
not as much a fan of the second song, it just didn't really say much to me that i haven't heard.
>>
>>61553201
>https://windowlistener.bandcamp.com
really love the idea of this, i've done some playing around with stuff like this before. it appears more overwhelming that it needs to be, were there no points which you thought could have been separation points? also would have enjoyed it more with some panning and layering. only about halfway through, i'll post again when i'm done.
>>
>>61553201
ok so what are these voices hory sheit
>>
>>61553201
Well, it's certainly a noise EP, can't argue with that. I got intrigued by that raw data setup and you didn't disappoint in that regard. But then again that's really it, isn't it? Raw data spliced together to make layers of noise... I don't say I felt cheated, you've clearly stated that yourself. But I wouldn't go all in on this idea next time. Why? Because hundreds of noise-wannabies are using the same technique and they tend to use Audacity for maximum laziness and tendencies of being "too hip" for normal music. There should be more flesh in noise, I believe. And on your EP I can only see solid bones but not much else.

>>61553255
Okay, I like that one. Maybe not love it but like it. I certainly has a nice vibe which is always a good thing in my book. The beats are solid, the samples well put together, it's well on instrumental part, all flows very well into each other. My only one complain would be that this piece of music could use a bit more variety, just a tiny bit more.

nice. dreamy chilly space rock/pop. great production and the music reminds me of all kind of things - from video game music to chillout stuff. fav: the outer reach

>>61553184
now this is some really great stuff. loving the atmosphere and production. well put together. the delay ambient sound is spot on, not like with some delay abusers.

>>61553281
thanks for the feedback. our production is basically shit, and i know that. the thing is, we recorded and mixed this all by ourselves (not in a pro-studio, but in our garage where we rehearse) with no previous experience.

so i'm trying the short one because i'm trying to help the old of listening to the whole song at least. headpones fell of for a bit at the first but i didn't feel like i missed much. it's getting pretty interesting now though. was that a harmonica? no? sounded like one i dig. barely noticed all the time passing with this one.

before i even hear any of this, i really like the art. i'm about to start it, follow up post in a bit.

>If you're gonna make it this compositionally stale you can might as well add some textural variation, I mean come on now.
I guess you're right but, in a way, it's more of an experiment on drone as a whole. It may come as not really fleshed out or textually varied but so is meditation music in most cases.

Now that we are out of the way of all of this let me tell you why your stuff is... good. Now first of all that post-structuralism tag make me giggle. In what way your music represents that idea? Pretentious? But beside of that tag I kinda like what you're doing here and there. It's upbeat, it's loud, it feels bouncy in places which is rather pleasing. As a shithead in textural variation (hopefully you've listened to my music as long as I've given yours time) I would say that you generally manage that stuff well. But also, I feel that some of your tracks are a bit empty in a background - better look on that aspect. And I can safely say that in large parts of your music your tracks are too loud. There should be a moment of silence, something to break the repetitive loudness volume of all of the tracks which seems to be on the same level. That's about it.

>>61553476
Thanks for listening! I used modified clarinet, synthesizers and some modulated brass and woodwind instruments. Sadly, no harmonica on this one
>>
>>61553255
not a huge fan of the production on this by track two. plenty of nice sounds, but vocals were the nail in the coffin for me.

first song was nice, only thing i didn't like that much was the pitched snare runs.
second song introduced vocals in a way that i don't enjoy. but the song was over before i was done typing this so now i'm on the third song and i'm ok with it. i do agree with the other guy that parts of this are kinda too much louder than the rest of the song.

i don't really watch a lot of movies so i'm not sure how this should feel for sure? also not huge into vapourwave.
here's my worthless two cents.

feels like the actors would need to be yelling to be hear over this first song. the sound is so enveloping. the second track is much nice on the ears. i like the little bits of cutting out parts of the beat.
>>
>>61553521
Thank you for your well thought out evaluation of my work! The only thing I dislike about it is the use of the word "pretentious", as I feel like it's nothing but a meme buzzword intended to stifle creativity, but I appreciate your post nonetheless.

>>61553150
Considering how low effort this is I find it surprising that you haven't been able to produce more releases since May last year.

part of why is because i'm trying to not have such "low effort" music, also haven't even had much success making songs that fit well with each other.

hi, the muddy and distorted effect were the effect that i wanted to give to the tracks. I wanted not only to do something vaporwave but also give it a very bad quality like an old cassette lost somewhere in your car, that could fix ok to a real bad italian 80s movies, that if you ever watched any of them you can see how poorly they are. It's more a parody of that style

This is our most recent release as a duo, a 'mini-LP' with songs from 2013 and 2014 that was recorded and came out in 2015.
>post punk
>noisy/sludgy alternative rock
https://larksburg.bandcamp.com/album/made

We recorded an album over the summer with two other members which is being mixed currently (it's a slow process but it'll sound great) that is gonna' come out in the first half of this year most likely. AND we have another album that was recorded in these last couple of weeks that should be out maybe in the last half of this year. We'll see.

I've been up to a lot of music stuff recently, one of the guys that was on the 'summer' album and I are recording an album together sometime, and I'm in another band with him as well which has been working on a full length.

>>
>>61560626
I'm guessing lyrically this is kind of a joke... it's too insincere to have appeal as a freestyle. the beats are cool, but not too memorable, the atmosphere is dope though
>>61559881
I only listened to Post, but it's really good and I ought to listen to more later
>>61559781
it took me a bit to like both the lyrics, voice and music, but I think I really like them all after all. unique style and good production. I don't really hear any of the genres you mention other than hip hop, though. maybe goth? I sort of see what you're getting at with doom I guess
>>61559684
First, I love the album cover. I only listened to the first four minutes, and found it well produced and texturally interesting. however, it wasn't evocative and near the end of those four minutes the increased consonance and crescendo made it sound a little sappy to me
>>61559254
nothing here...
>>61559018
aesthetically this is right up my alley; reminds me of sensational or lucky dragons. it's not great, but it's cool and trippy
>>61558932
cool music video I guess, not too engaging music or lyrics though
>>61558118
I don't like the production much- I don't know shit about production but maybe it's too compressed? I didn't really find much interesting about the music either.
>>61557364
nice production and atmosphere. I like your voice too. The riff's pretty good but gets a little repetitive after a bit. I wouldn't really consider math rock, although it would lend itself to becoming math rock if it only it were mathier. the only thing I dislike about it is the synths and maybe that there's too much reverb
>>61557110
really good ideas, but I wish the production was more immersive somehow. at first I thought the repeated chord was too "normal" to be of much interest over time, but it grew on me (didn't listen to all of it, as a side note, so this may just refer to the first ~half)

>>61565336
listened to Hot Dog really good intro on that song, extremely tight playing. Fantastic Soloing, really good mixing throughout the track. Very, very solid track here.

>>61565335
Listened to Smoke and Mirror first, loving the drums, like the guitar, the vocals sound nice but aren't really my thing. This is well put together. Also listened to Talk, still liking the drums, really the guitar tone on this track. I noticed an improvement on the production between Smoke and Mirror and Talk, keep up the good work.

>>61564928
Listened to The Flyover first, very crisp production, liking the strings and the vocal sounding synth in the background. Also listened to Oscillate Me, loved the intro, very nice. Whatever you're using for synth software, keep using it, these pads sound amazing, plenty of detail in the sound. Downloaded.

>>61564462
listened to the Wedding first, neat music concrete intro, nice depth when the music finally kicks in. I'm guessing since this is vaporwave you're usin samples? like the hint of distortion, cool saxophone. Listened to UFO sighting as well, very thick, very cool, shit was pretty spooky, I like the shifts as the song progresses.

>>61564401
First I listed to Boredom Leads to the Bottle, love the vocals, absolutely love them. Nice break from the usual stuff in these threads, very well put together track. Listened to Xanax and Cigarettes as well, if I had to be critical, I don't like the fade in, but otherwise the track is pretty good, liking the lyrics a lot. I really like the guitar tone in this song. Phenomenal work.

>>61562217
I'm not crazy about the production to be honest, but as far as Punk goes this is pretty damn legit. I just listened to the whole thing, consistent throughout, I'd like it a lot more if the mix wasn't so quiet. Still enjoyed it quite a bit though.

Is the rest of the album gonna be like this, because I am really enjoying this track so far.
>>
>>61567430
Well, I'll answer that question by saying that in my discography of 5 albums so far, only one of them had a consistent style genre-wise. So maybe? It depends on which aspects you're talking about; a few tracks will feature some of the kind of "urban" melancholy feel, but a lot of it is going to focus on doom metal and atmosphere. The only thing I can comfortably tell you for sure is that it's going to be full of surprises :)
>>

hey man, thanks for listening my music, i used a lot of samples from youtube videos.

No problem anon
>>
>>61561571
The intro to Empty Hands was great but the meat of all the songs is super generic. There were a couple really abrupt tempo shifts that i appreciated for the variety they added but overall I wasn't that impressed. It wasn't actively bad but it wasn't great either.
>>61565336
The guitaring on this is fucking fanfuckingtastic. I don't really like the drum production, it feels very robotic compared to how full of life the guitar is. The low end feels a little empty, like the bass isn't high enough in the mix most of the time. I still fucking love it though.

Thanks for checking out hot dog! I checked out some of your ep. I think you have some great ideas going on there. I thought the vocals were a little on the loud side and could use some post processing. Music is solid, my concern is mostly mix-wise. I could do a master on one of the songs for free if you are interested!

>>61568462

Thanks for the constructive criticism! Glad you are digging the track! I'll definitely reevaluate the low end on hot dog and get some last minute mix and master polishing before the official release on Monday! Hopefully you'll check out the rest of the songs on Monday if you are into hot dog!

Thanks for some realistic feedback, thank you for the offer as well but I think I'm all set, I might do a remix anyway as I'm always looking to improve my production skills, mixing vocals is still my weakest skill.

this was really psychedelic. the guitar was excellent!

>>61553255
listened to the first track and it was really great, I'm gonna check out more of your stuff :)

>>61555052
I really like this track, it was really weird and really made me pay attention to it with it's originality

>>61555462
the lead guitar tone reminds me a lot of Interpol but the rhythm guitar gives it this metal drive to it, I like this a lot! I like how the vocals seem to emerge from behind this wall of guitars and carry this real desperation. Gonna check out more of your stuff :)

>>61559881
wow I love your guitar work, and I luv me some post punk with drum machines. I listened to Post and I was really impressed with the atmosphere you create. Your vocals complement this atmosphere well.

>>61562217
this is really good. your stuff reminds me of some of the better Black Flag songs but that's probs because I was listening to them earlier today. The guitar tone on Kuhn Poker was excellent and reminded me of some of the sounds Steve Albini would make with his guitar with Big Black.

really love the drumming on The Lorax and the guitar was really catchy. Also the mouse was really cute and 100%

>>61568723
the guitar definitely reminded me of Slowdive and the backing vocals really helped with the atmosphere. really great stuff here

>>61568648
sooooo much atmosphere. the droning sounds really draw the listener in and lead them to the insides of their mind. Keep it up :)

>>61567321
thanks for the feedback :3 listened to Alien House and it was pretty cool. I really dig your synths and the drums were really nice.

I really just want Hater-chan to bumrush me and tell me I suck dog dick. I bet he's an artist who post frequently and is afraid people would tear into his stuff. But I bet they wouldn't. I bet his stuff is pretty good.

pretty good brotendo, really love the chillness of your vocals. The Owl sounds like if The Gift was 2 minutes and the riff sounded like Sweet Jane instead and it's pretty cool. Adulthood was weird but hey so it adulthood as in the real life thing. I really dug the synths?brass? that opens up Satan. The backing vocals throughout Dashboard and Police Officer were glorious. overall this EP is pretty darn good. THUMBS UP :D :D :D

Here are all of the releases he said were terrible with no feedback. I'm trying to find a common theme... maybe he's the exact opposite of me.

common theme is he only lstened to about 20ish seconds of any of these artists. it would have taken days to complete listen to this entire thread

I'm way too full of myself to pity myself desu senpai. Normally people react the other way and are successfully baited into listening. Here, just for you, a big long overwhelmingly positive review someone wrote of my stuff. http://theheavyaesthete.tumblr.com/post/135475952543/the-antioch-antioxidant-accident-heart-eraser

>>61572262

it means you recorded the song in mono or provided slim to no stereo placement of any element at any stage of the recording

>>61568462
Thanks for your feedback. I think your right on your part. We´ll try to better the generic parts in the next album.

I'm only a bit into the first track but I'm in love with the concept and the sounds are incredibly lush so far. Will tell you what I think of the whole thing when I'm done, but it's pleasant so far.
>>
>>61575347
Thanks heaps for the positive feedback! It means a lot

>>61575379
No problem, man. I really dig this. Your choice in the first track to place the synths in the high-range and the lead lower tonally creates a very deep and warm vibrancy throughout the piece, as I said, "lush" is an apt word to describe this. The way the lead just kind of glides through the synth progression as opposed to soaring above it tonally is very comforting and evokes a warming, euphoric sensation, which I'm guessing was the intent given the theme. And the keys towards the end, while somewhat free-form, still create a lucid dream-like quality much like the feeling of falling in love.

I'm halfway through the second track now, and I'm fond of the tonal shift from the first; rich, ghost-like low-end synths I can really get behind. Your choice of timbres is exceptional, I'd love to have tones like this myself.
>>
>>61575423
I'm super glad you think so - and super glad that the music's evoking the moods I wanted it too. Thanks again
>>
>>61575679
I'm always here to give support to unique artists and those who deserve praise, man. Your work is beautiful, I've bookmarked the album for future listens. I thoroughly enjoyed the full album and anticipate further releases from you.

LSBP guy here. Thanks for the casual feedback. Sorry you didn't like the noise (not sorry tho), but volume levels and dynamics were created purposefully to all sound even on the same volume. If it gets too loud at some points, you're probably just listening to it too loudly. The dynamic range was created very meticulously with the listener's needs in mind (nothing I hate more than needing to adjust the volume constantly when listening to an album).
