What are you listening to family?
Any cool releases recently?
Any nice bandcamp stuff you found?
Are you pickin anything up for Christmas?

General Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/PhhV6eSx

OP here, I'll get us started.

>What are you listening to?
Checking out Tauromachine by Merzbow.

>Are cool releases recently?
I haven't been really following releases lately cause I'm still checking out a bunch of noise essentials, but apparently Merz did a collab with somebody recently.

>Any nice bandcamp stuff you found?
I've been enjoying http://yasuhitofujinami.bandcamp.com/album/throne-of-blood a bunch lately.

>Are you pickin anything up for Christmas?
I ordered a 7 inch of Life Documents by Gerogerigegege, a bootleg of 77 Live by Les Rallizes that came out last month, and a CD copy of Heaven's Persona by Shizuka.
>>
My brother-in-law is staying over a while so there has been considerably less noise listening this week than I would have liked.

About to go to bed and put on a Masonna album while I read before sleepytime though.

OP here again, I'm getting a backlog together for the end of December/all of 2016, and I was wondering if you guys had any recs? Looking for mostly noise/harsh noise obviously, but here's an updated chart for reference.

Here's my backlog + some ratings for those interested.

Keeping with the IAALOBO stuff, does anyone knows about Whitemorgue? In the interview between Loveswirls and IAALOBO they mentioned it but Burning Orchids didn't respond anything.
Searching on internet I read that lotsajoy really died, but the fact that he died 6 days after he closed his label seems weird.
Also, how weird is that some edgy unknown artist from bandcamp gets two physical releases on a new label? My theory is that IAALOBO is the wife of lotsajoy or the co-owner of Loveswirls or whatever other fag related to Wilhelm.
I even started writing a document with all the info i can gather, this Whitemorgue stuff is really surreal.

Do you guys not get futile troll attempts in these threads any more? When I used to come here a few years ago, you'd get all these guys immediately jumping into any noise thread, absolutely livid that people listen to noise, saying "I know, I'll fart into a distorted mic and be a noise artist!" and people would just respond with "Cool, post the recording on here and we'll give it a listen." and then they'd go berserk. Good times.

>>61178812
I was about to pull out the trusty old 1930, but you just reminded me of listening to Masonna's Beast late at night once and it being fucking awesome, so I'll go with that instead.

did you see the bit about Valediction last thread?

Whitemorgue, as far as I can tell, was sort of an underground noise scene or pseudo-genre. I've heard of Avellie, Hollow Realm, and The Inner Garden and they're noise except Avellia which is somewhere between noise and that "black" metal black metal elitists scoff at.

Really wish I knew about IAALOBO when the tumblr was up.

I'm surprised at the love IAALOBO gets from some anons. I just started listening to them just because they were summery and depressive, and now i discovered a whole lot of stuff behind the innocent tracks.

Yeah, me too. Was there some sort of fandom? That would explain a lot of things about the physical releases.

The other whitemorgue artists were in the related artists section on last.fm You can still find some via the tag.

Pretty sure Khrysanthoney always dealt in obscure recordings, it was just an underground label. From what I understand he liked the material and made an edition of fifty for two of the albums. It's possible they knew each other though, I don't know.

As far as the link between Hollow realm and IAALOBO, one of their RYM pages said the two were the same person only yesterday... it looks like the pages have been edited(? I'm on mobile and the formatting is different). Maybe they're distinct, but then the link between Chambering and Laurel Noose and IAALOBO is only a few scraps of evidence as well. (the last.fm pages + the old loveswirls tumblr mentions Laurel Noose and the rare Valediction copy mentions Chambering)

I still highly recommend the documentary "We don't care about music anyways" for anyone even remotely interested in Japanoise

also, I had asked in my last post if anyone could upload the 20th and 21st cds from the merzbox and a kind anon answered positvely, if he/she is still here I would be eternally grateful to have a link as the archive links are dead for those cds and all the old noise blog links are also dead

>Can anyone explain to me why noise "music" is considered music?
the only accurate definition of music is that any human expression considered music by a group of people is music. the only functional use of the term "music" is to denote the collection of art that people think about and discuss as music. it is undeniable that there is a group of people who produce, distribute, discuss, and consume noise music in the same way that people do other forms of music so there is no value in trying to differentiate noise music from other forms of music.
>Why do people enjoy it?
There are a lot of reasons people like noise. Some people enjoy the aggression of it and may find a catharsis through listening to it. Many of these fans found noise through metal, punk, or noise rock. Some people just enjoy the texture of the sounds. This is the same kind of enjoyment that jazz fans get from the timbre of a saxophone or rock fans get from the timbre of a guitar. In the case of noise that enjoyment is taken to the extreme and most other aspects of the music such as rhythm and melody are stripped away to have a pure exploration of timbre and texture. Some people also enjoy enjoy the conceptual nature of some noise projects. For example may of Dominick Fernow's projects are instrumental noise and industrial techno given context by descriptive song titles and creative artwork. This kind of multimedia aesthetic unity is something that is common in noise and is something many people look for in a quality noise project. Of course people can like it for more than one reason as well as other reasons I didn't list just like every other genre.

don't get me wrong, i love this album. that's actually the first negative opinion of the album i've seen in these threads, but simply that in my experience of the album the vocals seemed "acted" in the same way that a dramatization might be. it's chilling nonetheless, but not because i feel like the vocalist (i forget his name, canady, maybe?) means what he's saying, but it chills me in the same way that seeing a fantastic performance in a film or play does. almost becoming someone else.

SCHIZOID - KETAMINE

A personal tale of anxious reflection and death of a damaged person through lies and deceit.

>power electronics

>some usage of blackened vocals

I want to create a sort of blackened power electronics affair.

So guys, please check this out. It's one of my first PE efforts and I'd love to get some input on my work as of yet.

___________________________________

I used the EHX Superego create some of the sustained sounds and drones on this track as well as the part where my vocals were muffled. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to maximize the pedal's effectiveness in producing PE? Anybody else have this beautiful (but expensive) pedal?
>>
>>61200824
I think i remember you. You trimmed the length and this is nice(but still imo it should end about 2:40)
>YOU FUCKING JUNKIE
I love when you hold a scream and pedal noise sorta blurs into it. Thing is, I can still understand you. About the ending. It works, but that's it. I think.
>>
>>61200900
Thanks. With this I experimented with the pedal I recently got and did try holding the scream. What do you mean that the ending "works?" and what do you mean by "that's it?"

I did trim the length also. Until I find a meaningful way to fill the gaps between vocal bursts, I'd rather shorten my tracks.
>>
>>61200973
Well in my opinion this "breather" around 2:40 fits very well for a end while "real" end of the track does not.
>>
>>61201002
I agree. I feel like it sort of splits the track evenly in half, but as the feedback was blaring, I realized that I wanted to finish the lyrics. It's one of many takes of the song I plan on recording. Since you've responded, could you give me more (pun intended) feedback on it?

remember you. You are this autumn-whitebrown-noise guy? First track is okay, i guess. Second, damn I realized that I actually need jordaan-esque noise based folk in my life. And it ends in a perfect moment. Third, that screeching transition is perfect. I like that noise elements here. Melodic but not really. But I think that the track is a little too long. Fourth, I've fallen for you. Love that awkward singing.
>>
>>61201124
Well, I like it anon, though the mixing could be a bit better. The vocals are also a touch contentious; you sound pretty sloshed and it doesn't really help anything. But, I look forward to hearing the full thing.
You probably shouldn't kill yourself, but y'know.
>>
>>61201124
i can tell you're coming from a genuine place but it falls short somehow in a way i can't pinpoint. i guess practice more and get an ear for texture that suits the feeling you're going for?
a lot of the different instruments (including your voice, which sounds totally broken and is awesome) are out of tune or key with each other, which makes them all sound like they're fighting for attention, and as such nothing really gels and it feels totally half baked. applying some music theory here will *really* benefit your project. i know theory has no place in noise blah blah blah but in this case it will let everything glue

you're still a teenager which is fucking sick - this is very, very good considering your age. don't give up as an artist. you have a LOT of potential. take a break if you feel demotivated and let life happen; you mentioned that one of your proudest songs was inspired by falling in love. let your music reflect your life, not the other way around. all projects end up better this way because they end up more authentic

>Through her tangled hair

>Then I remembered
>We only see one side of angels
>And in real life they don't need wings to go to heaven

Any feedback on this track I made yesterday? I started making harsh noise after listening to the genre for the last few months now. I'm releasing a full length album on new years day but it's less darker. I'm using samples from the movie Metropolis and I think the tracks I have so far are pretty sick.

Any other bandcamp harsh noise makers in here? They're practically non-existent in the bandcamp threads.

i stopped 'sleep has his house' for this, better be good. I like that ultrachaotic texture going on at first. I like that riddim that slowly emerges and everything smoothing down n shit. Also that singy sounds and then not so clear transition. But I think this goes for too long, That texture is not interesting enough to keep it for 2 minutes. Of course things are changin n shit but it isn't enough. It sounds like an excerpt from much bigger whole, starting nowhere, going nowhere. 4 minutes of one hundredth intense shit, please let me have some kind of break. Well at least ending is pretty well executed and clearly shows that this is the end of a song.

I'll probably give it a few more listens during December. Gotta listen to a bit more Black Cat, I got his tape only release in exchange for one of my own ones, and it's pretty solid HNW.

Overall, it's a real mixed bag. I'll probably do another next for next December, though if we go with some sort of theme, it might result in more cohesive tracks.

Hey, I listened to this the other day in a bandcamp thread. I really enjoyed it, and please don't kill yourself.

That would work too, I'm just thinking sonically it was a bit messy.

>>61215374
First thing I notice is that the first track is quite long. This might dissuade people from wanting to check out the whole thing.

Fuso has got enough variety to keep me interested, though is almost all high end. More mid or bass frequencies could help make it a little more bearable at higher volumes.

Sister is a nice change of pace. It's got a little rhythm and is nice and minimal. That being said, it too is a little one dimensional.

The tracks definitely do one by one get more interesting. I think if you worked on layering some stuff, maybe adding some samples/field recordings/traditional or improvised instruments, you'd be able to get more of a variety over all.
I just got to Battle of Surigao Strait, and it's definitely the best track. Don't be afraid to trash something if you think it's no good. Don't publish something just because you've made it.

Another tip would to be to listen to noise from far more established names, and then compare your track to theirs in some way. Does it keep you interested in listening as much? Personally there's a lot of stuff I'd cut from these tracks to keep them shorter. Long passages of samey noise is just boring, especially when you get to the 30sec/1min point.

How have you gone about making these tracks anyway?

>>61215717
I'd be down for that.
>>
>>61216322
Well because I'm a fag I'm going to keep the "how I'm making it" a secret. But yeah I think for me I sort of listen to noise in a more ambient sort of way so I made the pieces more drawn out to serve as that sort of ambiance. However if the future compilations or projects I'm involved with are not really in line with that then I'm definitely down to try out more immediate and exciting tracks.

Another thing I'm realizing is that I don't think I have either a good sound system or a very good ear for details, so what I've produced is,for me, pretty reminiscent of what I've been listening to lately, namely the Rita and alberich. So like I think the more I listen to it all the more I'll refine my palette.

Lastly I'll just say that Yamashiro may be more accurately termed a 'demo' because I was very eager to use it as a test run to get feedback about how I work. But the upcoming release, which I hope to wrap up by mid-January, is going to be a more refined and honed piece of work

this is to you specifically but also to anybody making any music in general:

just make what you want to listen to, you should have a concrete idea of the kind of music you want to hear, and your idea should be unique enough that you can't easily find a bunch of artists doing what you want already.

if you have an idea and you make music that executes that goal in a manner that you find satisfying then you have succeeded. whether or not a shitload of people listen to and like your shit is beside the point, the point is that you are making something that YOU wanted to hear, and that if someone else was making that sort of music you would want to listen to it.

if your goal is a very particular texture in hnw stuff or whatever then just fucking do it.

do it for you, fuck the world
>>
>>61216566
Sounds good to me man, definitely looking forward to it. If you ever do want to go down the HNW sort of path, then IMO looking at layering different frequencies would help to create thicker walls.

I listen to my own sets and productions and mash ups
>>
>>61216929
Honestly yeah, I find myself coming back and playing my own tracks over and over. I find them all really comfy, because I spent so much time listening while making them.

Indeed friend! After I posted about the archive.org stuff I realized that everything club moral (the label) did is available for free, in the highest quality!

I spent the night downloading, converting, tagging and replacing the awful soulseek transcodes i got from Etat Brut. Praised be Danny Devos for making this possible.

>do it for you, fuck the world

Everything you wrote is relevant. My hero SAM MCKINLAY did not wake up one morning and say, 'You know what people want, a HNW from field recordings of sharks,' but he did say, 'I want to hear a goddamn HNW made from field recordings of sharks'

Then he made THOUSANDS OF DEAD GODS.

This is how I like to imagine it happened.

supposed story of how vomir and kikuchi made collaboration album is beter. I bet kik was like
>I have 2 19:36 sick drumloops, gee what should I do with them
>vomir just stands here, walling
>hey you, you, can I like stack my loop on yr wall. It's going to be soooooo orginal
>more awkward standing.
>greatest hnw album produced 10/10

>greatest hnw album produced 10/10
>really an 11/10

It really is like 'too' good. Hands down in my 'Top Whatever' of 2015 and maybe HNW albums of all time.

>>61221154
shame that drums are digital, cause "real" drums would sounds sick. It's an well established fact cause I blasted to vomir hnw and it sounded great.

Heard your Behringer demo earlier, nice to see this all up though. You're tying all your sounds together nicely, nothing really stands out in a negative way. I know there's no beat as such, but a change in tempo towards the end would have wrapped up the tracks well.

>>61200824
The contrast in frequencies here is great, I really like that you've gone with vocals here, many of the PE releases I've seen people post don't have any. I wouldn't go analyzing composition so much here personally, kind of takes away the manic nature of what you're doing

>>61186321
I've said it before to other artists, but long track lengths really are off putting.

The first track is mixed pretty quietly, so I'm hoping that there's no louder parts later on, I've got my speakers turned right up.. Sounds like different layers of recorded musiq concrete? They do go well together. The clicks on the first track almost sound like insects. Could easily be the soundtrack to a doco about ant colonies if you get what I mean.

I don't know if I'm gonna make it through the whole album, though the second track is a nice change in sounds to the first. Around the 5 min mark you can hear some recordings which are obviously recorded with a fairly low quality mic. As far as digital releases are concerned, this can be a bit of a problem as it does appear amateur, though I can understand conceptually why you'd want to utilize whatever you have at hand. The rest of these recordings may have used the same mic, though it does stand out here more so than anywhere else.

>>61201124
You've obviously put a lot of thought into this project. You've got a lot of feedback already, but just wanted to add that I enjoyed this and you've certainly got enough talent to continue and expand onto other, better things.

>>61206954
Not sure what to make of this. You've had a lot of other material that was quite different, though it does go well with the track you had on the NBND compilation.
>>
can someone rec me some cool noise apps for android?
>>
>>61221493
what does that mean
>>
>>61216734
Yeah! That's sort of why I started doing it. I wanted to make the noise I wanted to hear
>>
>>61221493
My roommate figured out how to make a feedback loop with a voice jammer app on his phone but I find it unlikely that someone would be able to make worthwhile noise it of that.
>>
>>61221939
I believe that someone already used it to make hnw if not. Please do it and send it.

You have potential, don't give up your art or, you know, life in general.

I'm interested in any chance to stretch my noise wings that I can get. I posted my Pagoda Mast demo earlier just so you know which anon I am. I'm not sure how you're envisioning the collaborative process but if you think that demo had any potential then I'm down for whatever

Any advice or comments on how to improve or beneficially modify this chart? And when is Xern0n gonna finally put this up? There is a bracket on the pastebin called Dedicated PE essentials but there is no actual link to my chart.

For Ramleh I would swap in Hole in the Heart and for Genocide Organ I'd put on Leichenlinie
