What is white people's relationship with Kanye West? Is all of the praise for real or just a meme the internet keeps up? Besides Public Enemy I can't think of a rapper that more openly hated on White America and had a more flawed relationship with them. It's like he actively tries to put out shit they won't like but white people keep eating it up.
If you are white, how do you deal with the contempt for your race in the lyrics, or do you think he is just referring to rich conservatives or some other group of white people you don't see yourself as?

I'm certain is has a lot to do with how eagerly people dissociate themselves from negative labels. When a white person hears Kanye's music, it can give him/her a sense of pride at the thought of not being one of "those" white people.
Either that or people just don't take his opinions seriously.

Kanye's never said "i hate all white people" and I don't think he's ever made a song with the intention of pissing off white people. Being white and listening to shit like Gorgeous or a lot of lines off Yeezus I never got the feeling I was one of the white people Kanye was throwing a middle finger to. Listen to his interviews he literally says he thinks all races should get along and shit like that. He just hates the higher up executives who held him back for so long who were white because most people with positions of power when Kanye was trying to get in the game were white. He knows a lot of his fans are white, he married a fucking white chick (or whatever Kim is, she's not black at least). I think people think way too much when rappers call out white people and think that means they literally hate every white person ever.

As for his personality, I obviously can't tell if the guy doing nice happy interviews to promote his fashion line is the real Kanye or the angry guy from his albums is. Either way he seems to get his biggest kicks from being places he doesn't belong, and to him it's white people that think he shouldn't be there.
