Friend of mine swears by Scale The Summit. Really technically sound bassist. Never got into them much, but I didn't know that they were on Audiotree. I really dig those performances, I'll have to check it out. Never heard of Powder! but I dig Godspeed You! Black Emperor (just saw them live earlier this year, one of the greatest experiences of my life) so I'll give any band with punctuation in the middle of their name a chance.

The two albums before ITTCT's Red Forest (which you were listening to at the time you made the post) are way better, and worth your time if you even remotely enjoyed Red Forest. They also dropped a new album this week.
Lots of great recommendations in this thread. I'd highly suggest literally anything by Caspian, and early Mogwai. (Ten Rapid, Yong Team, or Come On Die Young are excellent starts).

Vocals are on the shoegazey side (and lyrically inaudible for the most part), but you may want to check out The Appleseed Cast. Their last album, Ilumination Ritual, is pretty swell and they're on the verge of dropping a new album this year.

I think RC's earlier material (particularly their debut) is a bit more engaging than what you linked, and their 2013 output has some nice curveballs as well. You're not wrong when you say that a LOT of the genre - especially nowadays - is painfully boring and similar. I've started to shy away from newer releases just because I feel like they're not offering anywhere near the same thrill as they used to.
Mr. Beast is a 7 in my books, so I get where you're coming from.

I'd still attest that Russian Circles are worth following, but I dig what they do. If you could tell me which bands in the "genre" / umbrella-label that actually still do it for you, I could try a suggestion. I have friends who only listen to the jazzier stuff (Toe, Do Make Say Think, Dirty Three, etc.) over the chugga post-metal and twinkly crescendocore.

Also new Yndi Halda that dropped this year. Between the vocals sprinkled in and the lush instrumentation, it feels a lot more dynamic. Recommended if you enjoy songs with far less predictable structures and strings, especially.
And if you liked what you heard but can live without the vocals, Balmorhea. All of Balmorhea all the time. They teeter into the realm of "post-folk" (if that bullshit genre exists) with a lot of piano and acoustics. Really good shit for the soul. Zero generic riffs or tremolo to be found.

desu the only post-rock album I've ever really enjoyed is To Be kind. Though I've only listened to like 10 post-rock albums so idk. A lot of this is based off the post-metal scene (i'm a metalfag who has a big background in classical). I also liked Toundra's 2015 album somewhat.

I mean, parts of TBK are post-y but I'd consider that a whole different animal. I'm really surprised to hear you enjoyed Toundra's latest. I think it's the closest thing they've done to a formulaic post-rock sound, personally. They still pull off a decent listen but I'd praise II and III well before that one, if you haven't checked them out.
Skinny Fists is king in my books but that's something you need to soak in with headphones in the dark.
I'm happy to say that the new Swans channels their "post-" sound into new heights, and will probably take the throne as your favorite album of theirs.

I am literally doing that. This sounds like the massively overrated movie soundtrack to a blockbuster film. I feel like the only way to really enjoy this would be to be totally new to music and never listened to anything experimental in your life. It's like the album I would craft as a 17 year old thinking I was being the most creative man on earth. Why would i listen to skinny fists when i could listen to Rolly Porter or something.
Though I will say, getting through the ambient section of the second track right now, and this is actually good. Like i would listen to an album of this. But then they use really tired chords and it's like jesus kill me, this is boring.
