I remember listening to car seat headrest once and when it was over I thought to myself "is that all there is to an indie artist?".

Is this the best post-hardcore there is to offer?

Do mu actually have a saying in the alternative music scene? Do people come here to see what's being well received by the users and shape their sound accordingly? Do mu have any influence?
>>65411460
yes.
I'm pretty sure 90% of my friends in college last year got their taste in music from /mu/. Lot of Death Grips & Tame Impala.
pretty sure Deaf Grapes only got big because of Fandango and /mu/. most likely the case with Blank Banshee specifically and vaporwave in general and Car Seat Headrest, too
Clyp/Vocaroo thread, post original content and covers, remember to give feedback : )
I'll start, I posted a couple in the vocaroo last night but kind of missed the peak. This is my most recent one https://clyp.it/nyxumtyv

This song is about a man who owns a candy store, tries to do a science experiment to make the perfect candy, makes a big mistake and burns his whole shop down. But the kids and all their parents that go to the shop feel real sorry for him so they build a new one for him

Now that was an interesting little segment. were those live drums? The stereo hocketing was actually done quite tastefully.

A piano improvisation.
Why is it that whenever someone calls someone's taste in films, books or video games shit it isn't a big thing but once they call someone's taste in music shit they go apeshit?

Because with music you actually feel emotions, unlike the others.
>>65411336
Cause they think music defines them
Can we please go nuts over The Cocteau Twins together? What a wonderful, important group. It's a shame we (probably) won't get to see them perform again.
Here's "Evangeline" from their 1993 release "Four Calendar Cafe."

one of the best vocalists in rock

Fav albums? Imo:
Heaven Or Las Vegas > Four Calendar Cafe > Treasure > Victorialand > Head Over Heels > Garlands
Their singles and b-sides are all equally great. Such a consistently amazing band, it's astonishing.
All of their albums and EPs are perfection. Elizabeth Fraser is one of the most iconic vocalists of all time.
What does /mu/ thinks about Rick Astley ?
WE'RE NO STRANGERS TO LOOOOOVE
His new single was breddy gud. Also;
WE'RE NO STRANGERS TO LOVE
his jacket's too big for him in that picture, which is what gives him a boyish vibe
>KILLER WHALES!
No, seriously. What did he mean by this?
Stop making threads about this dork.
>>65411169
i don't know but he's cute
>>65411261
I've noticed we hate him now that he's popular.
this guy has one of the most beautiful voices i've ever heard on a pop record t b h
>>65411106
Please don't discuss REM here, I don't want them to be ruined by this god forsaken board.
>>65411131
Dude, /mu/ loves REM. I've never seen anybody dislike Murmur and even Automatic gets a fair bit of love (you would think /mu/ would instantly deride it as adult contemporary bullshit or something).

Does anyone else mourn for what vaporwave used to be? It really has had it's image destroyed, this was inevitable though since the genre was coined it allowed every kid and their dad to latch onto it. artists like yung lean and vaportrap are evidence of this.
I liked the melancholic/ambient direction it was going in around 2 or 3 years ago but I can't endure listening to slowed down vocals and trap in order to find good tracks anymore
It isn't dead though. A lot of good albums have been released the past year and this one but they didn't get exposed properly... I'm building a new vaporwave essentials guide for that actually.
Anyway I made a list of some good hypnagogic vw here (system won't let me post it here): http://pastebin.com/QmzYwJ48
The guide I'm building is here: http://virtual-plaza.net/index.php?threads/introducing-the-vaporwave-essentials-guide-nu-edition.7/

I'm trying to enter a pervertcore and abusecore phase, an evolution of the somewhat failed girlwave / vaporn experiment

Post albums with at least 3 discs. More is fine.
Starting with a classic
Philip Glass - Einstein on the Beach
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MIDuZq7RVAM
Has anyone ever listened to these discs separately?
