Soundcloud Thread
Sing and Songwriter edition!
Let's discuss our own written songs, maybe point out similarities, points of improvement and strong points.
The Idea is that basically all posters have to listen to every song in the thread.
So start with one song linked.
Let's see if this works..
Ill start!

How valuable would weekly piano lessons really be? I'm 24 years old and have never played an imstrument on my life. Always wanted to, but never had the money or opportunities; no one in my family plays music or owns an instrument.
I bought a decently priced digital piano and some self-teaching books, but I usually have a hard time teaching myself anything. I've amused the idea of taking lessons, but it'd be about $300 a month for only one hour of instruction each week. That seems like a lot of money for so little, but I see so many people say that learning...

Japan has good taste in women
japan likes rei wtf... I though my waifu was the underdog
btw holy shit 300 for four hours? unless you're rich just learn from videos on youtube. though this is advice from someone doing that themselves, so bit biased
Trying to teach yourself is very difficult to do well. You can learn online but it takes a lot of determination and ability to evaluate yourself. Do lessons if they're possible but maybe try and find some place cheaper.

ive never been on tumblr, but i imagine that this is the kind of stuff that gets posted on there. if this is bait, good job.

The bends is probably their best album.
>>65751556
this post killed /mu/
Why would they put such a phenomenal song as Echoes on one album along with some, at most, mediocre, forgettable songs?
this better be bait

This
Why would you prefer the short album version over the 'live in Pompeii' version?

what is /mu/'s opinion on hamilton?
Its the best.
Idk. But Alexander Hamilton was a fucking weak socialist bitch who wanted America to take a big central bank dick in the ass for the rest of eternity. Glad he got shot down like a pussy. Hope the musical portrays him for who he was.

the musical is leftist multicultural nigger jew fag fest that only appeals to the type of person who votes clinton but lives in a gated community.
The simply stunning follow up to the highly acclaimed debut album 'Press On', Lack Of Afro combines his live musicianship, top notch studio production skills with rappers and vocalists into a skillful combination of compositions blending funk, hip hop and soul into a steamy stew of a breakbeat bonanza.

From fat funk rippling over ace beats and breaks, Northern soul to stomping 60's sounding jams, this picturesque album plugs in 2009 for another great year of new music. Great songs swinging over a new funk breeze; there's shades of Mark Ronson, soul loving Modfather Paul Weller and early story-telling Bowie circa 'London Boys' mixed up with the last four decades of breaks and beats.

The man with the crates of breaks for days drops his first full length album, after a string of dope 12"s. Expect some lush hip hop based soul/funk laced and sample heavy treats to rock a dancefloor or serve as ideal headphone listening

An unbelievable mix of 70s funk with modern production - an absolute dancefloor stormer all the way through. Great beats, excellent production, very catchy tunes, top quality vocals. Modern funk, soul, and hip hop hits.

ITT: /mu/ writes the lyrics to a typical Linkin Park song, bonus points if you write notes as well.

that's a good one OP
Am I a retard if I like this album? I'm also a fan of bands like The Necks, Swans, Godflesh, Xiu Xiu, Interpol, New Order, and Joy Division. There's just something about it, but I can justify why critically it's amazing. Plus it makes me nostalgic as fuck and reminds me of this cute black girl that was my first adult crush with big curly hair and who liked sunflowers, marijuana, and OK Computer a lot. I got to know her first day of community college, but knew her from high school a little. Damn time is a bitch.

Honestly I love this album too. Fall Out Boy's had some serious duds in their career, but this album's a perfect example of how to make evocative pop punk.
>>65751035
Don't let people bully you into not listening to music. Taste is pretty subjective. You don't have to justify your enjoyment of pop music by name dropping indie artists. One of my favortie albums is Fearless by Taylor Swift and idgaf what anyone thinks.
>Am I retarded If I like this album?
Yes. Folie a deux is their true masterpiece.
>mfw my friend thinks ob-la-di-ob-la-da is not only a good song but the beatles' best
How do you deal with pleb friends /mu/?
>>65750989
Don't talk about music with them?
by sucking his cock
>having pleb friends
Does /mu/ hate Karen O? Cause I think that I'll start. YYYs are the only band that gave me no reply on my email, and haven't send anything to me. It's a love-hate relationship now.
I ficking hate Karen O's solo album. I listened to the yeah yeah yeah's egg smashing album recently for the first time. I liked it
Even tho her polish father I'm scared that she and her band might be Jewish, especially Nick Zimmerman
>>65750985
I love Karen O, especially on YYY's debut album. Most underrated /mu/ waifu by far.
>>65750995
Yeah her solo album was a huge letdown. I remember her talking in an early interview about how she's real good with lyrics and songwriting, but bad at embellishing music pieces and building off them, and that Nick apparently does most of that. That really came through in the solo album, which was super unpolished to the point of sounding lazy and half-assed.
>Swans is going on what might be their last tour
>is a minor so won't be able to get in to see the show
What's the point in going on living if I'll never see Swans live?
>>65750942
>is a minor
bye felicia
Reminder

Start a band that gira might like and open for the next version of swans
So I'm doing a bunch of ketamine infusions for depression and it's actually been helping a lot so far (INB4 kys). Thing is, I don't want to listen to smooth jazz mixed with nature sounds, which is what they have available as most institutions do, whilst in my therapeutic k-hole, so I've just been doing it with silence. Been considering a white noise machine, but I have three sessions left (plus boosters, I guess, but hopefulyl I won't need them anytime soon) and figured I'd try at least one with a suitable soundtrack.
Any suggestions? I feel like instrumental music would be better, but music with mostly unintelligible words would probably be good. I've never used ketamine recreationaly so I don't have much experience. The infusions are beyond what people would probably do as a club drug but obviously not fully anesthetic. What's the "music of ketamine?" Some flavor of ambient?
I'm pretty open to suggestions 'cause I plan on listening to everything I haven't heard to see if it would go along with the kind of experiences I've been having. Also, the infusion lasts about 50 minutes so albums of that length might be cool. Thanks!
If you want unintelligible, then look no further. Super cool, dreamy chill stuff with really unique vocals. Even with the lyrics in front of me I can't make heads or tails of what this guy is saying, but for me that only makes it better. You can mondegreen it and make the words whatever you want

just had to look it up myself, wild shit OP. sorry you have to go through that, jealous of the treatment but obviously not worth the pain leading up to it. try brian eno's ambient series.

That the album is horrible.
It's pretty obvious anon.
>>65750234
Call me crazy, but if I didn't like an album I'd probably express it in a way other than recording a 6 minute video of me eating in silence
basically that it was just not worth the review
and Fantano being quirky as always
