ITT: Albums that aged like milk.
true
FoaBP still hard tho
[insert reader's favorite album from 2009 or earlier here]
I mean, it certainly has a timestamp (mostly due to production techniques and the lesser technology of that era) but I wouldn't say it aged badly.
What am I missing when it comes to making beats for my tracks? They seem to lack a "glue" that holds them together and makes the track fluid? How do I fix this? Can anyone help me?
For example: faxing Berlin sounds so complete and flows nicely. My beats sound a little awkward or stutters.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm new and just want to get better at making music
Mixing/Compression, better arranging on the daw
Alright, so my initial goal of 100 songs is going to be harder to reach than I originally speculated. So, we will just continue on anyways and use what we have so far.
The rules are as follows:
Rule 1) Name a song that you think deserves to be in a list of greatest songs ever.
Rule 2) Be sure to use [Artist - Song] format.
Rule 3) If you see a song that you agree to be in the Top 100, reply to it with a "1", to confirm your vote for it.
Rule 4) In order for a song to qualify to be considered for the top 100 list, a song now must...

How many of these albums would you consider your all-time favorites? Just curious. Using today's chart just for the sake of it.
About 3 for me
stop forcing your shitty chart
>>65887013
Not my chart. They all consist of the same albums regardless, so it's not like it matters.

Do I buy their early albums too? Or am I good? Are the early albums even essential?
Depends, do you like what you've heard of their early sound? If so then sure. It's just standard early 60s rock but if you like it go ahead.
>>65886691
Of course you should.
>>65886691
just listen to them and decide, fuckface
Best of montreal album? Gotta be SPITA for sure.
Lysergic Bliss kicks ass
Hissing Fauna BUT Skeletal Lamping is right behind it
>>65886896
This for me. SPITA is 3rd after those, then probably Paralytic Stalks.
How much emphasis do you put into lyrics compared to the musicality?
Depends on the genre. If it's pop like Pet Sounds, I mostly disregard the lyrics. If it's folk like Blonde on Blonde, I pay a lot of attention to them. For some reason though I still can't get into Dylan's music.
idk. pet sounds has bad lyrics and good music. blonde on blonde has shit music but good lyrics.
>>65886388
>>65886440
pet sounds doesn't have bad lyrics in any way, they perfectly suit the album. they're honest, straightforward, simple, naive, and at times beautiful
>>65886368
to answer the question, it depends. i greatly prefer musicality to lyrics, but good lyrics add a ton to good music
Mama Mia! Post-Rock sure is a shitty genre!
