So /mu/, I've been thinking about this for a LONG time. And I have finally decided how I want to try to make this work. I have always been very willing to help people find rare 'shares' & releases that people might need in a thread. Most of the time, this is only something people can ask for in a sharethread. Those are not always up. So I have an idea. I will create a tripcode that can be worn by multiple people around the board, so that if anyone needs something, they can just ask one of the tripfriends wearing the code.
Few things:

There is one link in the archives, but it's dead
One of these threads /mu/. Remember, album covers are square. If you don't crop the image to a square, you are a failure at life.

Timilersua Island - Homestuck
Ryuichi Sakamoto has cancer of the throat and I'm kind of sad seeing as how I lost my dad last year to cancer and I fucking love Ryuichi Sakamoto, and pretty much all his projects from YMO to his Alva Noto collabs.
Anyways, here's one of my favorites from his album Futurista

Invent a genre.
>Skrap: a fusion of ska and rap. Beats and hooks from rap, guitar, basslines, and brass from ska. Can be fast or slower, like reggae

Fuck skraps
If you could that "#30? #40?" one, I guess this is 35.
Also I made contact with aliens last night, that's why I missed the challenge submission date. Only thing I was able to bring with me was my Microbrute, no computer or fx or eq or compression or anything. I think they recorded some stuff with it. I may have been probed.
Here is the recording. Warning: it may be disturbing. You may want to start with the volume down a tad.

someone asked in another thread so here goes.
what's the most compact midi sampler?
i can pick up a volca keys for $50 and a beats for around $40...worth it? Only other piece of hardware I've got is a waldorf blofeld.
>>48605736
>$50 volca keys
fffuck you I'm jealous!
Easy to make the keys sound great with some EQ. the Volca Beats? no so much, you sorta have to mod it.

Help me out, we need to have a /psych/ general STAT
Because of course.
Gandalf - Gandalf
Psych rock:
Take one part rock band arrangement. Make sure all the songs use blues minor.
Congratulations, you have completed the theory requirement for psych rock.
Tone: Have rich parents. Buy Vox AC30s. Buy Fender Jaguars. Buy strymon reverbs. You're gonna need a shit ton of reverb and possibly tape delays.
Congratulations you have completed the tone requirement for psych rock.
Misc: Take any Jimi Page solo, choose 6 notes, slow them down, congratulations you have a psych rock hook. Always wear black everything.

producerfags of /mu/, what is your music writing process?
go into as much detail as you like
I start with an initial idea,
It can be ANYTHING man, thats about as descriptive as I can get it.
Then I start adding more ideas onto it,
Y'kno, like building blocks.
I gotta be honest with you man sometimes I just use the first idea that comes to mind because if you start to overthink it you lose the initial ideas vibe so just make some music man don't think bout it.
>take random sample into simpler
>play around with it, pitchshift/distortion/reverb whatever
>heythisisnotshit.jpg
>make it into a 16-bar loop
>add drums
>don't know how to proceed, end up with 600 different awesome 16-bar loops, 1 finished song
I really need to learn to use arrangement view
>>48590059
Pretty much this.
Typically I open the program. I usually go for a beat first. Even if I'm not using kicks or snares or hi-hats or what have you, it really helps to have a kind of "rhythmic skeleton" to the track.
Then I usually work on how the various instruments/samples, etc. that I'm using work together. That's the hardest part, I think.
what is this alien rap album and where can i find it? i dont see it on spotify

You guys are gonna hate me for this but I'm trying to think of a reasonably obscure electronic album, cover is a ~60's/70's car in focus, generally darkish looking, album name is about halfway down. Album itself is kinda chill, female vocal. Band name is two words about 7-8 characters in length, album name is one. That's all I can remember. Not even sure if it qualifies as /bleep/ but if this rings the bells of anyone they are a lifesaver
>>48591729
how can you chill to some obnoxious bitcrushed loop
Probably "What the fuck is this shit?". Happens every time.

I showed my friend James Chance and The Contortions and he told me that my music was fucked up. I expected that honestly.
>>48593123
>Friend is playing lots of EDM (super mainstream: Avicii and such)
>Turn on "Pickled!" by FlyLo
>"This sounds terrible."
I expected the reaction so it wasn't too bad.
>>48593123
your friends are probably not as pleb as you are
I don't get vaporwave. If the genre is a paradoy or critique of consumerism do people legitimately like it or is it just art that's meant to be appreciated as art and not music?
Because if you're meant to buy into the empty corporate sound of it as critique but also enjoy it as music isn't the entire genre inherently hypocritical? You're enjoying exactly what you're opposing.
I do enjoy pic related, but for the most part this whole "movement' really confuses me. Maybe someone can clear it up.
>>48584524
>appreciated as art and not music
This makes no sense. Music is an artform.
>>48584524
ALSO: pic related was orignally Ecco jams vol. 1 but I couldn't use it because it was already posted and I forgot to fix my post. I don't like Floral Shoppe.
>>48584551
art as in like performance art as opposed to listening to it because you like how it sounds.
