Let's discuss the music scene in your city.
>How is the local talent? Any favorite groups?
>House shows? Basements? DIY spaces?
>Do national acts tour through your area often?
>Any interesting subcultures?
>Is there college radio available?
>Any favorite record stores?
Also ask about other cities you may be curious about.
lots of shitty noise and hardcore bands people go see perform in basements as an excuse to get fucked up
San Francisco.
1. Mostly garage rock shit. A lot of them moved away in recent years tho. Flensor Records is the shit. My favorite group is The Bilinda Butchers (they are like radio dept. kinda but with a shit name)
2. Yes there is all of these things.
3. Bands never scoff San Francisco or Oakland unless they are fuckin assholes
4. is rich white art student a subculture?
5. USF has a good college radio sometimes
6. Amoeba Records is fun to get lost in for hours
I'll get things started with Tallahassee, FL.
>Few good hardcore/punk bands, a handful of talented songwriters, some electronic/noise acts as well.
>Lots of house shows, opening a DIY space later this week! Very stoked.
>Campus venue hosts touring bands; had Ty Segall, Kurt Vile, Cloud Nothings in the past year.
>College radio is very alive 24 hours a day, hosting live in-studio performances and 30,000+ CDs and records.
