Can anybody recommend some darkwave/minimal darkwave things to listen to?
>inb4 Bauhaus and Depeche mode etc.
What album is this?
One synthwave track I like is The Shortwave Mystery-Pilots. The whole album is a nice hidden gem.
Love Spirals Downwards- Flux is a favorite of mine. Black tape for a Blue Girl is good too, edgy name aside.

This is a screenshot from a german movie The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. A lot of bands use recordings from this movie in their videos.
ITT: Those moments that make you have a musical orgasm, ie: 16 minutes in on Storm in pic related when the noisy strings come in.
>The last 4 minutes of Rocket Fall on Rocket Falls in Yanqui UXO
>The ending of the EP by For a Minor Reflection
>Popplagiđ by Sigur Rós
>MTC - Nightcore

ITT: We compare bands/musicians to cartoons. I'll start with the obvious one of the Microphones and Gravity Falls.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Neon Genesis Evangelion

>can be appreciated for simplistic reasons, but can also withstand complex analysis
>dark/apocalyptic in tone
>introspective yet socially-conscious to a degree

Wouldn't Over the Garden Wall make more sense?
Does jazz music's spontaneity and improvisation make it a viable competitor to art music? While it's more difficult to write a masterpiece than to create a masterful solo, jazz has a completely uncontrollable and almost tribal feel to it a lot of the time- especially when the performer keeps on daring and daring and daring to go further than anyone thinks they can, but they keep reaching a new peak. Now, as I said, art music seems to be far more complex, far more difficult, and far more artistic a lot of the time. But it seems hard to compare art music and jazz as...

there is no competition to art music
jazz, pop, and art music should be treated differently and analyzed with different mindsets. they're ultimately trying to achieve the same end (to be art, whatever that entails), but you're narrow minded if you think every genre of music demands the same type of interpretation.
>>53855984
It's art, but it isn't art/academic music.
Scores and shit.
This should be the standard key layout for pianos/keyboards
since it actually actually treats E to F as it would any other half-step. The conventional layout treats the half-step E to F like a whole-step, which results in 24 different required fingerings instead of just 2.
This layout requires you to learn only TWO fingerings
because the intervals separating whole tones are EQUAL.
The black keys are the even whole tones and the white are the odds.
This keyboard is laid out properly.
god pls no
>>53855446
I think your a few centuries too late my man, we've already gotten used to the current system. And I doubt the companies that produce the pianos will go for it.
>>53855446
>This layout requires you to learn only TWO fingerings
I don't understand, all 12 keys would still require different fingerings with this layout. What do you mean by only two fingerings?

Prove me wrong:
There is no place to share your music as a rock band (of any genre) anymore. No one cares about your band either, whether it be on the internet or in real life at shows/whatever. If you are starting a rock band, you've already failed. There is not a single way in which you can succeed. These are just facts.

define 'rock band'
>>53850152
distorted guitar. not indie pop
about fucking time too
It's been a while.
>DGD is one of, if not the, best post-hardcore bands of the 00s and pic-related should be considered seminal in the genre.
Happiness and Downtown Battle Mountain were both better though
>>53848964
It's great.
>>53848989
I respect that argument but I disagree. S/t is their most cohesive and well written/recorded/performed album. Also Kurt Travis is a GOAT.
2:45 on RANDOMFX
How is this man so based? Some random melody on a song he puts on SC has so much emotion and heart, makes me feel so many positive emotions. Never will we be gifted as generously as this again.

Explains why I've been exclusively listening to him for the past year and it's becoming an actual, real life obsession. I now have forgotten the hundreds of artists/bands I've listened to in my life and exclusively listen to him and his likes, but mostly him(Only this period, I know all the rephlex, planet-mu, Love Love crew)
>>53851168
I feel you man. I've gone from a variety of different artists to just the holy quadrinity (AFX, BOC, Autechre and Squarepusher), I truly don't need any other music. Of course Aphex is at the top, I listen to his music everyday, sooo sooo good words cannot even begin to describe. Keep on going mate, we live in a glorious time.

Botanist - Flora (2014)

cheerful, victorious sounding black metal played on a hammer dulcimer. Botanist's entire discography narrates a continuing story of plants taking over the world

Surprised this wasn't the OP
>Plantcore. Instrumental Moog music created for the purpose of playing it for your plants to make them happier and healthier. It's fucking weird and great.
>Plantasia is dreamy 70's Moog synth music, ostensibly recorded for the purposes of playing the music for your plants so they grow happy and healthy. It kind of feels like listening to something you really shouldn't be listening to, like a cult tape.

I would like to take this opportunity to plug my Mort Garson Power Hour™.
It's Plantasia for the first 30 mins and then Mort's album Black Mass Lucifer for the second 30. Every minute there's a synth swell (taken from a Mort Garson track called "Walking In Space") to indicate it's time to take a shot of beer. Have fun and be safe you guise <3
