>>non-Western music completely ignored
Eh, I somewhat agree with this whole post, but /metal/ constantly discusses music from South America, Eastern Europe, and Scandinavia.
>20 different flavours of rock only separated by an effect pedal
They're also separated by vastly differing thematic aims. If you think the only thing separating Brand New and Swans and Burzum and Dead Kennedys is an effects pedal then you're musically illiterate.

I really hate when /mu/ treats ITAOTS as a bad album just because it is a meme
And the hate OKC gets because reasons (might be because of popularity? RYM? Idk.)
>>54760803
Note even within your choices its all still different types of (mostly Western) rock?
I'm not even trying to b8 here, I just wish there was more variety.

Not sure how thats really relevant to this thread.
Itt: Album charts that aren't tied to a specific genre but instead a subject.
Also, does any one have the "I wear all black and bad at talking to girls" chart? I can't find it on my computer.

Have you tried the wiki?

Yeah, couldn't find it.
Replace Kanye with HoLV.
Is there such a thing as math folk? I enjoy the complexity of math rock and, as someone who prefers folk music to rock, I'd love to hear how it would sound on traditional instruments. Bulgarian folk music frequently uses asymmetric meters, so I think it could work well.
john fahey/american primitivism? maybe less of an emphasis on mathy time signatures, but still has a lot of that complexity.

this /thread is actually interesting

Listening to John Fahey and it sounds pretty cool. Not what I would consider complex, but I like it anyway.

Anthony Braxton- Six Monk's Compositions (1987)

Jonathan Kreisberg- Nine Stories Wide (2004)
>post-bop, modal jazz
>A departure from his quintet and his original compositions, this album features Krieisberg in a guitar trio setting and playing mostly new interpretations of jazz standards. Despite the somewhat “straight-ahead” nature of this record, Kreisberg’s tone and unmistakable chromatic approach to improvisation make this a very enjoyable listen.

Do you think it's okay to pirate music?
On one hand, if you pay for it, you can support your favorite artists. They do deserve money for what they create, right?
On the other hand, you may be broke and not have money to spare, paying for music. So you pirate it, you would have never bought it in the first place so it wouldn't even have affected an artists sales.
Personally i download a lot of stuff, but if i really like an artist, I'll save some money and pay for a record i like, usually on vinyl.

Policy has basically been:
Does the artist need my purchase? Yes? No piracy. No? Might as well pirate.
Sufjan doesn't need my help.
Phil Elverum does.

Wait, aren't they just punishing their fans in Indiana and not the actual people who are facilitating bigoted laws? If not, then that's cool.

It's been great /mu/, you guys have shown me the most beautiful music this world has to offer and I'm forever grateful for that.
It made life a little easier the last few years, this place isn't as bad as you guys think.
You guys hang on and find the things you need in life, I'm sure you'll all figure it out soon.
