How do you like your music to sound /mu/? I personally like the thin, lo-fi sound quality of the 60's. it sounds very natural and classic.

Good

I like the gritty, saturated harshness of 80s home studio 4-track. It contributes to the atmosphere of the music the way a Xerox machine does to the flyer art.
>>55173315
it really depends on the artist. If its some gritty punk band i prefer a more scratchy audio quality but if its kanye or something i want crystal-clear fidelity
The other sharethread will soon be dead so here is a new one.
All genres welcome.
Complaining about genres that are shared is not welcome.

Miles Davis- Miles Ahead (1957)
>big band, cool jazz, third stream
>Though Miles' name gets top billing, this project owes much of its success to the brilliance of Gil Evans' arranging. The program consists of mostly popular jazz compositions, arranged by Evans for large ensemble and featuring Miles Davis' warm tone on flugelhorn.

what are some emo albums that experiment with the genre a bit?
>>54996497
> arena emo
> dat 3 stars
But seruously tho, I guess Coheed would be the closest, though they're not really emo at all.
harriet the spy

always wanted to do this, also Nouns are pretty forward thinking http://nounss.bandcamp.com/track/dogs tho sometimes it's barely emo

Giles Corey frightens you?
it frightens me that people think this shit is good
It seems to me that QOTSA is the closest to being unanimously appreciated by /mu/. Really, you cannot find any flaw in this band.
I don't like them.
They're not nearly as popular on /mu/ as they were back in 2012, when the hype for their new album was at an all-time high.
they're a great gateway band for plebs to start listening to some good shit
ITT: stories of people being dumb as shit about music.
I'm not talking about how your cousin didn't know Death Grips did an ARG or how your ex didn't hear of some band with less then 1,000 last.fm scrobbles or something, just general shit that makes people look like dumbfucks

Hotline Miami has been a catalyst to this sudden explosion of 'neo-80's' or 'retro-wave' music and that's really cool and all, but it all seems too similar and repetitive to me.
I'd really like to get into this genre a little more, since I love the idea and sound behind it, so does anyone have any suggestions for albums that are considered the best?
can kids from /v/ stop bombing down here claiming that hotline miami/blood dragon jumpstarted neu retro fetishism when hypnagogic pop already existed

No one is claiming that it started it, just that it gave it a sudden kicking and an interest in the genre.
Try some Carpenter Brut or Pertubator, they were in the HM games and they both are pretty good
Starting with the obvious GOAT

I'm so thankful for finding out about Jurassic 5 through this. And oh shit, skating through New Jersey on The World Is Yours is so damn epic.

Is onkyo the most intelligent genre?
I NEED AN ANSWER TO THIS
>>55145302
Onkyo is the brand of my turn table, I didn't know it was a genre.
I don't think onkyo can solve this riddle.
