As much as like the female legs, I'm afraid that this is just a St. Vincent topic.

Album sales are dropping;
So far I can only see the following things holding the music industry up:
>YouTube (advertising)
>Spotify (advertising/membership etc)
>iTunes (plebians gonna plebe)
>Touring/Shows
>Merchandise
>Product Placement (Beats got this locked)
Plus the people who are listening to independent artists probably aren't buying it much because anyone who has the time to search for lesser known music probably knows how to download it for free. This might be generalizing a bit but lets be honest how many of your MP3's did you pay for? In my case probably less than 5% of the music I have on my computer.
How do we keep good music profitable? I can only foresee a dark age where musicians make good music as a hobby and the same shiety artists will rehash the same radio shit forever.
What genres do you think will stay profitable in the next 10 years?
CD's are nearly dead. I think that the recent interest in Vinyl will decrease soon because it is impractical to listen to - and then re-increase again eventually.
Personally I know a lot of you on here (me included) involved in making music would like to be able to make a living out of it one day and I struggle to see it happening in the audial-dystopian future I think we're moving toward.
What think (p.s sorry for the wall of text)
Music as an industry is over. It came about because the only people who could realistically afford to record and distribute music on a national/international level where the companies that would become record labels. Now that anyone can cheaply record their music and upload it there's no need record labels and the industry beyond publicity.
I don't get this attachment to the record industry. Record labels have historically ripped off artists so its not like streaming services and online distributors ripping them off is any different.
The music industry...

Also I think the money has always been in merchandise BC the record label keeps most of the money from record sales. Even someone like Taylor swift selling actual physical records by the millions still does touring and merchandising, because that's where the real money is.
I doesn't need saving you dope
People who enjoy making music will always make music

What do you think about Adele saving the music industry?
>>60297909
Unless she's gonna donate some of that money to lesser known artist. It doesn't do shit for the music industry but make them shit out more Adele clones
>>60298002
But her talent and voice would be difficult to replicate no?
>>60298038

She's the fucking preset for female vocalists, her voice is the epitome of generic
I could go out on the street and walk past a girl who can sing like she can

I'm pretty new to going to concerts.
Seen Beethovens 5th and Mozarts Requiem.
It was all good and all and the orchestra was great.
One question though.
Is it like a tradition for the audience to applaude for five minutes and the conductor having to get on and off the stage three times? Or did I attend great performances and were to pleb to realise it?
>>60297980
Its happened at pretty much every concert I've gone to. I was super confused the first couple times I started laughing cause i though i was being fucking pranked like the 5th time he walked out and then back in.
Hell, I went to see la traviatta and the audience started screaming and banging their hands together like apes before the final cadences had even finished.
Pretty disgusting if you ask me.
