David Bowie turned marketing into the essence of his art. All great phenomena of popular music, from Elvis Presley to the Beatles, had been, first and foremost, marketing phenomena, however, Bowie turned that into an art of its own. With Bowie the science of marketing becomes art; art and marketing become one. There were intellectuals who had proclaimed this theory in rebellious terms. Bowie was, in many ways, the heir, no matter how perverted, of Andy Warhol's pop art and of the underground culture of the 1960s. He adopted some of the most blaspheme issues and turned them...

You can be a hero, OP, but only for one day.
I like him anyway. He had good taste in collaborators if nothing else.
At least he gave Low and "Heroes" good scores. But really, who actually gives a shit about Scaruffi.

Great album, my favorite of his. I'm bummed that he's probably never going to make another song like Beach Life-in-Death.
How about you OP?
>>60407730
completely agree. Def fav of all his albums. I'm hoping with his new record contract he will make Teens of denial something closer to this but probably not.
Also agreed Beach Life-in-Death is amazing song, but fav is probably Sober to Death
Why is everyone on /mu/ such elitist assholes? Does pretending to enjoy Merzbow really make you feel better than other people? Whats the point of putting down someone else based off their musical taste?

Literally anything
For me, it's at least 100 plays on one song, no song being below 30 plays (unless certain, VERY specific factors are in play, like
>it's a blank audio file
>it's over (some large number) minutes long
kind of thing), and I have to pretty much remember every song, how it sounds like…and it's gotta be an album that in general really stands out to me in regards to my life (and I still like).
I have other albums I like, but if they don't meet these particular criterion, I don't...

i like what i like
It has to be the album that I feel the most passionate about
Seriously why the fuck do you need a formal criteria for this
>>60407151
Honestly, in the case of mine I was just raised listening to it. My dad was a huge Clash fan, so I grew up listening to London Calling, and its kinda stuck with me my whole life. It's been one of the major musical constants no matter what else I'm into, and its a dope album to boot
Lets talk about this album.
>>60407129
I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Pyramid really stood out I wish the rest of the album was more like that.
7/10
I can't decide whether this or GKMC is my AOTY 2012
