Faust Arp
For my money radiohead have never made a bad album track since the bends. They've never made a great one either, but still.
How does /mu/ listen to music? Do you pay for your albums? YouTube? Spotify?
Literally average anime fans confirmed
I buy CDs and play them on my stereo.
>>60839705
I've never bought an album.
I have almost 100 GB of music (not that it"s a lot)

I really appreciate the even more minimalist approach to dance music than a lot of footwork already is. the way that oftentimes a single sound is manipulated rhythmically is incredibly interesting. the final track with its almost chorale progression is also beautiful
2. brother
not to brag but I was one of the first people to post about this album here, and I've always had a close attachment to it. the improvisations never seem indulgent or careless mainly because Cohen is so experienced. it also goes all the way from ametric/rhythmic to a carefully...

I could've sworn that Jim O'Rourke album was a Schoolboy Q album, judging by the cover. What kind of music is it?
I've also never listened to a Zs album. Where should I start, and what should I expect?
>>60839916
>What kind of music is it?
basically "dadrock" except super witty and cynical instead of corporate and soulless
also killer orchestrations
>Where should I start
no defined place
Xe if you want a more streamlined, "generic" release
New Slaves if you want a super experimental release
Arms if you want some fun shit
>and what should I expect?
basically like avant prog jazz rock? uncategorizable
I have a friend who is new to music so what are some good itntroductions to punk and hardcore?

The egocentrism does not necessary lies on the lyrical content, but on the aesthetically presumptions of the work taken as a whole. ie. The works of the Beatles, Bowie, Floyd, among other dinosaurs of the rock cannon are based on the assumption that rock music can be uplifted through a depuration of all impure 'negro' elements and thus rendered into a higher form of art fit for consumption by 'respectable' bourgeoisie whites. ie. jazz soul, blues and funk are transformed by megalomaniacal plastic rockstars with god-complexes (their autonomy as artists is irrelevant, their egoes being the only unifying force in the process) . this is part of the alienating process of the culture industry through which authentic forms of human expression defanged, castrated and commodified.
Most people didn't take African drumming seriously until Reich wrote Drumming.
Are we to argue that classical music is garbage too?
>>60839287
Yes. Listen to any classical composer on LSD and you will feel the pretension in every fiber of your bone
>>60839250
>people like things i dont like
>music that borrows and expands upon preexisting genres is bad
>star-status being at all relevant to how good the music is
yfw Jose Gonzalez has way more talent than Sufjan Stevens but you fucks keep sucking his dick 24/7. Like seriously, Gonzalez is the best male folk musician ever
What makes you say that?
>listening to folk
uuhh nobody cares? just get the classics and never bother again the genre has been dead for decades
>>60839123

Pic related friend.
A pretentious collection of boring jams
>>60838704
Except it is universally accepted that this is probably the best album of all time.
I know the old joke about /mu/ hating all music, but is there anyone here that is actually like that, or knows somebody like that? Like, someone who is completely turned off by all these "artists" making silly sounds and singing silly words that don't even mean anything, but has to put on a facade of indifference or tolerance because music is so ubiquitous in society? How do you deal with that? How do you accommodate their entirely valid opinion and make sure they don't feel like they're not being excluded from some kind of secret club?
Rollins unrelated.
i mean my mom doesn't really care about music and has never gone out of her way to listen to anything so her i suppose
