real talk, is indie a genre?
it's more of a general classification based around a scene, like grunge
you're living on it...
to plebs, yes
Does anyone actually understand what Michael Gira is singing about? Most of the time I sure as hell don't, well at least from White Light and forward.
>I NEED LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE
what did he mean by this?
Seriously though, I get it. I like his lyrics not because I get them but because somehow they fit and the words and sentences are imaginative and vivid enough for me. Most of the time I can't make sense of them but I like them.

Sup /mu/ here in my garage, just bought this new Lamborghini here. Fun to drive around the Vindafjord hills. But you know who's been driving their Lamborghinis trespassing on pagan land for thousands of years?
Christians.
Every single fault of the Norwegian public today can be traced back to Christianity and it bothers me that so many people ignore these obvious signs of evil in their religion. You see when Norway was first developed under pagan rule....

I want to see your music/memorabilia collections organized by artists.
Tapes/vinyls/CDs/shirts/ticket stubs/whatever.
>pic: My Deftones collection. White Pony is signed by Chino.
>NIN collection is fairly week especially compared to how much output Reznor has. With Teeh and Slip are deluxe editions, the With Teeth surround mix is pretty dope. Some ticket stubs and the poster from the local date of the 2009 tour.
I would love to see a full halo collection up close.
My Boris vinyl collection
Missing some rare tapes, but very close to full collection.

Nice contrarion opinion
This is objectively the best Nirvana album, and possibly the only one worth listening to.
what's your story?
nah
My favorite thing about this thread is how often it appears.
Why are the dead kennedys so overrated? Their sound is pretty thin, their music is thrashy and spastic, not very hard hitting. There's so much punk that accomplishes a lot more stylistically. Yet the dead kennedys seem to have accomplished the most, in terms of status. Why is this? They seem mediocre.
They were fun and dangerous. Punk isn't about musicianship. As for style, DK's made a whole West Coast sub-style of punk. Plus, certain songs don't pack the same punch nowadays.

Example, this song. With email, the internet, remote checking, and remote customer service...stealing someone's mail isn't as destructive as it used to be.
Holiday in Cambodia means little if you didn't know any Vietnam vets.
Also, everyone had Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables back then, not so much any other albums. We didn't have the whole discography available for free with a few clicks.

Do the words thin and low impact mean nothing? Yes, punk does involve musicianship, it involves playing with passion. I am saying the dead kennedys play very weak punk, it's boring and if they're going to tack on some "meaningful" lyrics about vietnam or whatever, then why should I even fucking care? I hate when people equate "meaningful" lyrics with good. It's like, "oh my god, some people in vietnam died; FEEL SOMETHING!" No, fuck you.

Twisted Sister ‘Not Gonna Take’ Trump Playing Heavy Metal Anthem Anymore
>https://archive.is/hI9sI
Excerpts:
Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider is considering a fight against “the powers that be” within the Donald Trump campaign, telling radio host Shadrach Kabango Thursday that the band is reconsidering whether to authorize Trump’s use of “We’re Not Gonna Take it” at campaign events.
“What’s going on now is really making me question allowing the song to continue to be used,” Snider said in an interview...

I could swear he got butthurt once before at some Republican campaign that used WNGTI.

>Snider noted that he has a problem with Trump refusing to distance himself from his neo-Nazi supporters. “When you have white supremacy groups aligning with you, and you don’t denounce them, you don’t say, ‘Wait a minute, I’m not with these people here,’ and draw some clarity, that’s a problem for me,” Snider said.
Strange, I seem to have missed the speech where DT said "Let's round up and gas all the Jews."

If Trump becomes president then the United States will become a joke. You'll literally have a edgy, cocky, living potato, as a president. When will you stupid fucks realise he is not president material is merely a celebrity trying to buy his way into politics.
So which album should I listen to first if I want to get into animal collective? I enjoy that single floridada everyone keeps posting, and I want to hear more.

Do Vinyl really sound better? I'm getting a record player in a couple of weeks and don't know what to expect.
I don't think so, its just to show normie you got better taste
technically no, its worse,
but if you cherish the warmth and fuzziness
that a vinyl has, I would say its more enjoyable.
There's a lot of appeal that comes with vinyl that I personally think far exceeds the difference in sound quality. You start having to curate your collection a lot more, because it's no longer free to get new music, so the albums you end up buying you often get more attached to because they have more intrinsic value. It has an aesthetic to it that is more worthwhile than finding the best foobar skin, and if you appreciate album art and package design then there's that whole aspect to it as well.
If you're an audiophile and you really care about the...
