TMR is truly one of best and most experimental albums out there. If you play close attention to your shitty /mu/core, you will notice that most of it has been influenced by this album.
One thing that makes it a great (if not the best) album is that it is timeless. No matter how many times you listen to it, it'll be a total different expirience. If you pay close attention to one single instrument in TMR you can truly see how complex it is. A lot of effort and thougth has been put in every single note of this album. TMR is like an alternative or psychedelic pop/hip-hop...

TMR isn't even that experimental, and don't get me wrong, I like it

What's the female answer to Steely Dan? I want that comfy privileged yacht rock feel with an even comfier voice serenading me.

Time to face facts, if you're white and try to get seriously into rap, you're probably not doing to do it well. Your opinions and tastes in the music are always going to be weird. I'm not sure if you guys had a black kid who tried to fit in with his white peers by listening to rock music but always had slightly "off" opinions about it at your school, but that's what you are going to be. You're going to be the rap music version of the kid trying to fit in with a group of rock fans by enthusiastically praising some inscrutable off-color combination of groups like Evanescence and Scorpions. There's nothing wrong with listening to some rap music and having generic, boring, mildly stale opinions (ex. Big Pun was great and Illmatic is an extremely strong album), but for more advanced music discussion you'll really have to stick to the music of your people, like early 90s college rock for example.

FACT: Animal Collective will never be ballsy enough to make an album like this again.
>>61130623
everyone knew this already faggot
>>61130623
Idk if ballsy if the right word. They are just too old and don't have the youthful spirit that created their experimentalism but at least we have their older recordings that captured that magic
this album is pretty much like poppier early boredoms and black dice tho. i mean, it's great, but it wasn't super revolutionary or "out-there" or anything.
what album do you use to test new headphones?
Can't believe that Fantano gave this thing a 4. To my ears this is one of the most unique and absorbing albums of the year. Sounds like Archy spent a year buried underground listening to Actress, Burial, and Mount Kimbie records. Obviously the move away from guitar into more experimental territory was going to alienate some fans but it was a risky and bold move that paid off well. The fusion of future garage rhythms with hip-hop production and his deep, crooning voice sounds like something utterly new and refreshing to my ears while still as personal as his first record....

Why do people call him a genius?
>>61130211
Because it's cool to pretend blacks can have intellectual weight in 2015
>>61130211
hipsters periodically choose random 'authentic' rappers to intellectualize and follow obsessively.
