Hey guys, pleb here.
How do I improve/broaden my taste? What are some essentials here? Literally my first time posting, besides 3 days of lurking.
Some favorite artists of mine include:
Dick Dale
Simon & Garfunkel
Nas
Zarah Leander (Don't know what the fuck she is singing about, just very pleasing)
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Hendrix
Isley Brothers
Johnny Cash
Donovan
Pink Floyd
White Stripes
Fats Domino
Lou Reed
Thank you for any suggestions. Also, how severe is my pleb taste?
Well it's better than mine I'll tell you that
just start with surf. It needs a lot of help these days.

Honestly, your taste is better than most of the essentials IMO
Just follow your taste based on recommendations from other users and services like RYM and last.fm. It's a journey that's never over, and the main point is to find music that you love and appreciate, above all
Is Fifth Harmony today's Spice Girls?

In Oracular Spectacular, there's some very quiet lyrics in 4th dimensional transition at around 1:51. Can anyone identify them?
Feel free to share hidden lyrics in general, I guess.

This album I going to become a modern classic whether you like it or not.
You can continue to throw your buzzwords at the screen like spoiled toddlers but the fact remains: this album HAS and will continue to change music as we know it and be remembered as time passes
>>61171523
I agree.
>>61171523
i liked this album when it first came out but it just bores me now when i go back to it. his production was serviceable and even great at times on tracks like grief but they definitely sound amateurish and not in a good way. he might have sharpened his technical skill but im not hearing a significant improvement from what he did on doris. the lyrical content on this album just bores me outside of a few tracks because im not invested in earl's life. this sounds more him than anything hes done before which i appreciate...

I agree that the production is amateurish at points and I really don't like the latter half of the album but I think it's an amazing statement. This album is is completely him, there's no trendy tracks like '20 wave caps' where he's just trying to fit into the stereotype of writing what people felt was cool. The tracks are incredibly dark & moody and really does articulate well his mindset and thoughts at the time he made the album. A lot of artists can't do that. I'm...

>>61170971
>>61170983
It's actually The Black Angel's Death Song
So it's settled then? We all agree this is the new /mu/core?
No. Still needs:
>Kid A
>Lift Your Skinny Fists
>Merriweather Post Pavilion
And probably some others
>>61171015
>entry level plebcore
>>61171078
Isn't that what /mu/core is designed to be? The first things a person should listen to when they come to /mu/?
Is there anything similar to this album and its followup? Seriously, I think this has become my favorite album of all time in less than a week.
>>61170922
You tried Mark Hollis s/t? My favourite of the bunch and my fave album ever. Otherwise, there's Bark Psychosis, Tortoise, and 'O'Rang, who all sort of riff off of Talk Talk's vibe. Also, Miles Davis' In a Silent Way.
>>61170922
Mark Hollis - s/t
It's a really pretty album, but it's a lot slower and has a mood that's a lot happier.
>>61170922
Bark Psychosis - Hex
Are there any bands with that punkish synth feel today? Shit like early Devo and Suburban Lawns.
