Did anyone else here go through a pop punk phase where you listened to nothing but Green Day, The Offspring and Blink-182?
No. I've never gone through phases, really. I find new music that I like, but I keep loving and listening to my old music.
I was this close, considering SSBM music videos always played Green Day/Blink-182/nu metal bullshit.
I only listened to Green Day out of the three
but the phase was so intense I listened to nothing but Green Day for over a year
nothing else just seemed appealing to me
I'd lie down for hours listening to my favourite songs from their entire discography imagining it was actually me playing them with my band consisting of my friends at a huge fucking show
those were dark times
Hey guys, I need some help.
I'm trying out for bass in a melodic metalcore band in a week or two. Not my kind of music but it sounds like a fun challenge. The issue is that I've never played anything like it before, and I have no idea where to start. I'm used to playing rock and funk stuff.
Any ideas on where to start? Good bands, basslines, exercises?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Know how to play a minor scale and tremolo pick
That's really about it
Aeolian, Lydian and lots of half tones will a sad melodic sound make

Love lydian mode already. But I definitely need a refresher course on minor and Aeolian modes.
Any basslines or bassists in particular I should be watching?
My wife's boyfriend claims this is the best Nirvana album, is he right?

Title track and Sue are a bit on the weaker side for me. Apart from that great album, can't wait for real release.
Here's the thing about Stefan. The man had some serious pipes. He had a 4 octave range and he excelled in any octave. He wrote brilliant songs. And his stage presence was only matched by Adolf Hitler. Seriously, watch them play Inanimate Sensation at Afropunk and then watch a video of the Nuremburg rallies. We had better thank our lucky stars Stefan didn't go into politics or he would have taken over the world. But Death Grips as a whole had a brilliant dynamic. It wasn't just the Stefan Burnett backup band. They all made huge creative contributions to what made...
